Construction crews will close all lanes on Mira Mesa Boulevard and Sorrento Valley Road at Interstate 805 on Sunday from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m every night through June 12.
The closure is required to erect a temporary bridge support system used during construction.
Motorists headed west on Mira Mesa Boulevard will be detoured onto southbound Scranton Road, then westbound on Carroll Canyon Road to northbound Sorrento Valley Road. Motorists traveling south on Sorrento Valley Road will be detoured onto eastbound Carroll Canyon Road to northbound Scranton Road to eastbound Mira Mesa Boulevard. Electronic message signs are in place along Mira Mesa Boulevard and detour signs will be placed near the work area to assist motorists around the closure.
The work is part of "Stage 1" of the I-805 North Express Lanes Project. The project will construct one carpool lane in each direction in the median of I-805 from just north of state Route 52 to just north of Mira Mesa Boulevard. The project will also construct a south-facing onramp to and from I-805 at Carroll Canyon Road.
Estimated cost for this project is $86 million.
