The Ohio native began his music career at nine years old performing at churches and musicals. He began winning awards and listings throughout his early education including “Men of Achievement” and holding Life Member status in the International Tri-M Music Honor Society, to name a few. Throughout Clark’s professional organ playing career, he has been a featured organist at Pipe Organ Pizza in Milwaukee, a member of the playing staff at the Paramount Music Palace in Indianapolis, Pipes and Pizza in Illinois, and a member of the organ staff at Organ Stop Pizza in Arizona, where he assisted with the installation of the world’s largest Wurlitzer organ. Since then, Clark has been involved in over 100 organ installations throughout England and the United States. As silent film accompaniment Clark has worked at the Chautauqua Institution in New York, the Packard Foundation’s Stanford Theatre, UCLA, and the Fox Theatre for the Atlanta premiere of the restored “Metropolis” establishing him as one of the top silent film scorers in the industry. Clark plays a silent picture annually on the organ series at LA’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, as well as the Cinequest and San Francisco Silent Film Festivals, and the Los Angeles Conservancy. Clark has concertized internationally in England, United States, Canada and Australia on top of recording seven albums. Among his lengthy achievements and busy schedule, Clark provides educational workshops for young organ players and has established an educational curriculum for university students as a guest lecturer at Indiana University and a faculty member at Oklahoma’s organ department.   • Note: Though this class is offered as part of the Certificate in Poetry, there is no pre-requisite to join this class. All students, members, and nonmembers are encouraged to enroll. The students in this workshop will delve into the more formal forms of poetry styles; their histories and contemporary usage. We will continue to discuss the design and organization of complete books of poetry, both the chapbook and the full book. OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this workshop, you will have: Become familiar with the syllabic forms, prose poems, sonnet, pantoum, short poem, villanelle and sestina Dissected the different approaches to poetry book organization Read and analyzed two books of poetry Presented to the class the results of research on one book of poetry WEEK 1 Introduction to Poetry Four, review tips for evaluating a book of poetry, poem critique, workshop etiquette. Poetry Forms-syllabic poems (haiku, Hybum, Landay, etc.) Homework: begin to pick/order your books. Each student will choose two poetry books to study. Take home writing prompt. WEEK 2 Prose poetry, the short poem Read and critique workshop WEEK 3 The sonnet, the Pantoum Read and critique workshop WEEK 4 The villanelle, the sestina Read and critique workshop WEEK 5 Discussion and student presentations on poetry book structure. Each participant will choose two books of poetry and complete the analysis of both the poems and the structure/organization of the books, submit, by week 5, a one to two page analysis of the books and be ready to give a short presentation about the findings to the class of one of the books. Poem prompts will be given each week with the anticipation that the participants will generate new work. Participants are expected to actively participate in the read and critique portions of the workshop. For the exhibition Mark has been hiking the Sweetwater Valley area in South Bay San Diego documenting the area utilizing aerial drone photography creating 360 degree panoramic views. He has been working with the collection of the Bonita Historical Society to include information about local historic homes, including the 1908 Irving J. Gill and Frank Mead "Allen House," the “Otay Limited” National City & Otay railway, as well as early pioneer maps and historical objects inviting the public to discover the evolution of the local landscape of natural geography juxtaposed with architectural and commercial development.
