2023 marks Richard Marx’s thirty-sixth year as a recording artist, and his thirty-ninth as a professional songwriter. On September 30th, 2022 Marx released his unique and ambitious new album, simply and appropriately titled Songwriter. Richard Marx has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide, starting with his self-titled debut which went to No. 8 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The album spawned four Top 5 singles, including “Hold on to the Nights” and “Don’t Mean Nothing,” which earned him a Grammy® nomination for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. John Waite will be performing his catalogue of hits from his 40-year career as a solo artist and with The Babys and Bad English. Waite’s catalogue of hits features some of the most loved songs of the 80s and 90s – the #1 Worldwide hit "Missing You," The Babys' "Isn't It Time" and Bad English's "When I See You Smile" rank amongst some of his biggest international hits and are still heard on radio today. The event will begin with a traditional Kumeyaay Smudge Ceremony where Elders and Bird Singers will bless the area, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open Ocean Alley and Kumeyaay Way. On Kumeyaay Way, you will have the opportunity to build and launch tule boats with Stan Rodriguez, our Keynote Speaker and President of the Kumeyaay Community College, and learn about traditional crafts and customs. Soledad to the DEPTHS of the Grand Canyons of La Jolla, a project Walter Munk believed was critical to the understanding of what lies offshore. Second Chance Beer Company is celebrating its eighth anniversary with a beer-and-wine pairing dinner event on Saturday, September 9 at 6 p.m. The three-course meal features selections from famed O’Brien's Pub Executive Chef Tyson Blake, wine from Mia Marie Vineyards, and beer from the “Seize a Pint, Save a Pup” brewery that was founded by the husband-and-wife team of Marty Mendiola and Virginia Morrison. Second Chance has collaborated with San Clemente’s Artifex Brewing Company for an anniversary beer that will be released that day, a modern West Coast IPA called Dawg Daze.
