In this class, you will learn how to make delicious kombucha safely at home, including flavoring and carbonation. This workshop includes your own SCOBY and a take-home swing-top bottle of seasonal kombucha! Learn: We’ll explain fermentation and have a brief discussion about the benefits of making and eating fermenting foods, and the history and science of kombucha Demo: We’ll show you how easy it is to start making fermented foods yourself at home! We’ll demo the techniques for brewing kombucha and also flavoring & carbonating it! Join us in Encinitas for even more ways to interact with contemporary art! Weekly Wellness Saturdays at ICA San Diego / North expands on our 2025-2026 exhibition season theme, "On Healing." The exhibitions are part of a year-long exploration of the ways artists address the various socio-cultural wounds revealed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Similarly, the associated programs and events seek to explore how art can serve as a vital tool for mental, physical, emotional, and community wellbeing. Weekly Wellness Saturdays will take place most Saturdays throughout the year during ICA San Diego’s open hours (Noon – 5 p.m.), and includes: 1–2 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 2:15–3:15 p.m.: A complimentary tour of the current exhibition in its Lower and Upper Pavilions, the outdoor garden, and Sculpture Trail 3:30–4:30 p.m.: A rotating healing session hosted by a local facilitator 12–5 p.m.: An all ages art-making activity related to this year’s "On Healing" season 12–5 p.m.: Complimentary admission to ICA / North’s exhibitions Admission to Weekly Wellness Saturdays at ICA / North is free, and a donation will be suggested for healing activities, and made directly to the facilitator. Due to his unrivalled knowledge of the program since the very beginning, and his skill-set as a commercial lawyer, thereafter he has worked alongside the BBC, initially as a freelancer, to advise its commercial division (BBC Enterprises, later BBC Worldwide and latterly BBC Studios) on some of their "Doctor Who" business operations. His experiences over the last 35 years have included (1) providing Content, Production and Rights information and advice for multiple BBC departments on a myriad issues, (2) advising on the content, rights and marketing of the ‘classic’ "Doctor Who" DVD - and now Blu Ray - range, (3) supervising key elements of the public events (‘conventions’) held to celebrate the show’s 30th, 40th and 50th Anniversaries, (4) working within the BBC Studios Live Events team as Content Supervisor generally and, more specifically, as Curator/Artefacts Advisor for "The Doctor Who Experience" (2010-2017) and (5) liaising with the auction house tasked with the sale of "Doctor Who" props and costumes over the years.
