This concert will present a short advance of San Diego Civic Youth Ballets’ rendition of William Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. This magical, family-friendly ballet about the unexpected power of love is based on Shakespeare’s classic comedy and set to the enchanting music of Mendelssohn. Following the romantic adventures and misadventures of two pairs of mortal lovers, a mystical king and queen, an artist transformed into a donkey, and a mischievous fairy named Puck. The SDCYB presentation of their newest show will be an abbreviated version of the full performance, directed by SDCYB Artistic Director Danika Pramik-Holdaway, preceding its show run at the historic Casa del Prado Theatre, April 6-8, 2023. Looking for a chance to meet one of the longest-standing members of the Grateful Dead family? On Saturday, April 8, San Diego will have a chance to meet Steve Parish at one of two March and Ash locations; either from noon - 2 p.m. at their Mission Valley location, or from 3 - 5 p.m. at their Vista location. Steve, also known as Big Steve has teamed up with California-based cannabis growers Grizzly Peak to launch his own line of “Big Steve” products, available at March & Ash locations throughout Southern California. A fan favorite includes his Big Steve Infused Pre-Roll Pack, with seven hybrid pre-rolls, ready for delivery or pickup in March, and Ash’s Mission Valley, Vista, Imperial Valley, City Heights, Chula Vista H. St, and Imperial Beach locations. Steve Parish has been a primary member of the Grateful Dead family for 50 years, first joining the band as a roadie in 1969. He quickly became Jerry Garcia’s trusted gear handler and began to manage the Jerry Garcia Band, where they forged an unbreakable bond. Steve continues to maintain his relationships with the rest of the Grateful Dead family.

Explored paradoxically, literally, ironically, and playfully, Good Natured artists make direct interventions; imaginative and unruly, others certain and precise. Manifested in various approaches and materials including painting, sculpture, textile, mixed media, and digital works, the exhibition provides a multisensory and immersive experience that challenges us to see nature and ourselves as sources of regeneration. The 101st annual Coronado Flower Show is set to take place, April 15-16, 2023. Organized by the Coronado Floral Association (CFA), this is the largest tented flower show in the U.S. and Coronado’s longest running tradition, which includes an array of events leading up to and throughout the two-day festival. This year’s event theme is Hollywood in Bloom. The main event, The Coronado Flower Show, is divided into five divisions – Horticulture, Design, Special Exhibits, Youth and Botanical Arts. The show has been a spring tradition since 1922 and is one of the largest tented flower show in the U.S. Located at Spreckels Park, this two-day event includes landscape displays, a variety of floral competitions, educational lectures and demonstrations, live bandstand entertainment, food, a beer & wine garden with locally crafted beers, and shopping. The annual Sam Hinton Folk Heritage Festival celebrates the memory of Sam Hinton, the grandfather of folk music in San Diego County. Admission is free and all are welcome. There will be music on the gazebo, storytelling in the Porter House, and jam sessions of various flavors around the park. The Poway-Midland Railroad will be offering rides around the park for a nominal fee (which supports the nonprofit organization that runs and maintains the trains). The San Diego World Affairs Council invites you to a discussion about the politics, security, and culture of Yemen featuring distinguished speaker, Joël Fort, who lived in Yemen from 2005-2010. During his time in Yemen, Joël was tasked with implementing the largest ever industrial project in the country – to build from scratch a plant that would liquefy natural gas piped from Yemeni fields located in the center of the country and exporting it from an export terminal at the southern coast. This presentation will share some high-level data about Yemen, its vast geography and historical background and also personal insights into Ali Abdalah Saleh, the Yemeni president during his tenure. Joël will also talk about safety and security from his day-to-day experiences, the extraordinary beauty of the Yemeni landscapes and architecture, tribal customs around water scarcity, religion, cooking, music, the myths of the Queen of Sheba, Moka coffee and the pervasive practice of chewing “qat.”
