Shelter to Soldier, in partnership with the Foundation for Women Warriors, will host its annual Sisterhood of Service event on Monday, May 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the beautiful Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach (1 Ponto Rd, Carlsbad, CA 92011). Presented by Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach, with Women of Service sponsor The Boeing Company, the event honors the strength, resilience and service of women veterans and active-duty military women. Now in its fourth year, Sisterhood of Service brings together women from all branches of the military for a day of connection, empowerment, and community. The event reflects a shared commitment by Shelter to Soldier and the Foundation for Women Warriors to uplift women who have served and address the unique challenges they face during and after military service. The event will begin with an all-levels yoga session, followed by refreshments, networking opportunities and access to resources tailored to the needs of women veterans. "Threshold Encounter": A Guided Waking-Dream Lab "Threshold Encounter" is an after-dark guided arts experience using personal objects, lantern light, low sound, gentle movement, and the architecture of the room. Participants gather first by lantern light, then enter the larger space together. Through simple guided actions — listening, moving, arranging, noticing, and crossing — the group creates a shared threshold environment: a place where ordinary objects and spaces can begin to feel more charged, intimate, and alive than usual. This is not a performance, class, or therapy session. There is nothing to perform, explain, or get right. The experience is quiet, embodied, and participatory, designed for people curious about dreams, ritual, immersive art, symbolic encounter, personal transition, and the hidden life of ordinary things. Participants should bring 3–5 small objects or physical images from home — simple things that feel meaningful, curious, or charged when held. No art, theatre, meditation, or spiritual background is needed.
