  • In this class we will revisit the main building blocks of your memoir as well as hone the essential skill sets needed to complete your first draft. We will pay special attention to your structure, character arc and scene writing. We will also cover How to Write a Book Proposal in the last session of the class. Since the former sessions work on learning individual skill sets (think one melody at a time), this class is vital to assist the writer in learning how to use all of the skill sets at once for a first draft (think symphony). Class structure: Except for the first class, the first hour will be lecture and the second hour will be read and critique where participants can workshop their material or class assignments. Tone of class: We strive to create a supportive, nurturing environment where participants feel encouraged to share, risk and connect to their most creative self. We will be using the textbook "7 Essential Writing Tools," which is available for purchase on the first day of class for $10 or on Amazon/Kindle. San Diego Writers, Ink on Facebook / Instagram

  • Based on a true story, the performer everyone wanted to see “live” in 1940s New York was Florence Foster Jenkins, an enthusiastic soprano whose pitch was far from perfect. Known as “the first lady of the sliding scale,” she warbled and screeched her way through the evening to an audience who mostly fell about with laughter. But this delusional and joyously happy woman paid little attention to her critics. Instead, she was surrounded by a circle of devoted friends who were almost as eccentric as she was. This hilarious comedy is appropriate for all ages and, although is not classified as a musical, it contains both music and dance. Visit: https://www.powpac.org/?utm_source=Vesta&utm_medium=Referral
