Marie Curie Elementary school is bringing back a reboot of the beloved Craft Fair, called the Curie Community Fair. Prior to COVID, this was an annual event for over 40 years with 80+ vendors. There will be great shopping and family fun at Curie Elementary School December 3, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will be selling variety of merchandise, including holiday gifts, ceramics, jewelry, clothing, bath goods, stationary, candles, stocking stuffers, and so much more. There will also be plenty of exciting events for the whole family: silent auction baskets, food trucks, used book tent, and more. NEW THIS YEAR will be a kid zone with inflatables, dance performances and other entertainment. Entry to the vendor booths are free and part of the proceeds benefit the Curie PTA. Questions? This free family-friendly event will be held once again at Heritage park on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Studio ACE proudly presented the first annual Valley Arts Festival (VAF), supported by a grant from The Conrad Prebys Foundation, with promotional sponsorship by Visit Oceanside, on Saturday, November 6, 2021. VAF was made possible in partnership with Oceanside Public Library, Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, Muramid Art & Cultural Center (and California HQ for the UNESCO Center for Peace), and Friends of the Oceanside Public Library, and in cooperation with Mel Vernon, Captain, San Luis Rey Band of Mission Indians. Join the Library for the 2022 Summer Festival Jazz Concerts. Sponsored by the Friends of the Coronado Library and Hotel Del Coronado, concerts will take place every other Friday from June 3-August 26. Doors will open 15 minutes prior to each performance. On Friday, August 12 the Young Lions Jazz Conservatory (YLJC) will share their talents with the Coronado Library. This event will double as the finale for the Library's annual Summer Reading program for kids, teens, and adults. Attendees will enjoy a sweet treat at the end of the performance. The mission of YLJC is to enrich young lives, and the San Diego community where they live, by inspiring imagination, intellectual curiosity, character, and self-confidence through jazz music instruction provided to middle- and high-school students; to facilitate exclusive performance opportunities for young musicians at public venues; to promote diversity and inclusion; to foster awareness and appreciation of jazz music in the community through live performances and education. The tiny-house movement is sweeping the country! Get the inside scoop on how and why people are designing houses that take up about 15 percent of the space of a traditional home. Students will learn about tiny-house architecture, social responsibility and community. Then they will design and build their own tiny houses out of clay and found materials.
