International Make Music Day Comes to ARTS DISTRICT Join the worldwide celebration of music on June 21! Apt 4 Music is partnering up with Songbirds Music to present ARTS DISTRICT's very own International Make Music Day! It will be a day of music interaction, workshops, performers and bands! Family friendly, all ages, free and FUN! Make Music Day is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public. Kick off day-long festival activities with two free music and movement class demos led by the enthusiastic and admired teachers of Songbirds Music! Our two demos begin at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Bring your little ones and join in on an environment where families can sing, dance, play, and learn through the power of music! Stick around after the demos to learn more about Songbirds Music programs and enjoy the rest of the events of the festival! In this in-person workshop, students will work together in small groups to create their own vegetable batteries! After learning about how batteries work, students will use hands-on problem-solving techniques to figure out how to assemble components into a working battery and how to measure the voltage created.
