  • KPRN Is On The Air with "Radio Play!" Improvised Radio with PRN and SITV at The Merc in Temecula Every Last Sunday at 4 p.m. Step back into the 1940's with PRN and SITV's stage radio show! Step back in time and tune in each month to the golden age of radio, where local station KPRN goes on the air LIVE with its cavalcade of stars, bringing stories ranging from detective noir to comedy to science fiction and western serials to life on stage! Set in a 1940s radio studio, with live Foley effects, vintage commercials, and period costumes, PRN and SITV’s RadioPlay! is both a nostalgic tribute and a fresh theatrical experience where, try as they might, KPRN may have to resort to improvised theater and last-minute audience participation in order to ensure “the show must go on”! Part radio, part improvised stage panic, participate any way you can (live or streaming) with eyes open or even closed for the “just like radio” experience! Seasonal specials (like our holiday-time “It’s A Wonderful Life!” experience) pop up as well as everyone enjoys the hilarity in keeping KPRN on the air! We need YOUR help, every time! SPONSOR A SHOW and let your business electrify the airwaves with customer commercials and content! BE A PART of the “radio-is-back” community with PRNIT and SITV! TUNE IN! • Best-selling award-winning children’s and young adult author Maggie Tokuda-Hall delivers the 5th Annual Clara Breed Civil Liberties Lecture, named after heroic former San Diego Public Library director Clara E. Breed. Maggie Tokuda-Hall is the author of numerous award winning children’s and YA books including "Love in the Library" and "The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea". She has been called “… one of the most unflinching voices in contemporary genre literature.” She reached national attention when she publicly refused to accept a licensing offer for "Love in the Library", from Scholastic, who demanded a series of edits to her author’s note that whitewashed the history of Japanese American incarceration during WWII. The Clara Breed Civil Liberties Lecture honors Miss Breed's triple legacy of service, decency, and advocacy on behalf of Japanese Americans wrongly imprisoned in concentration camps by the federal government during World War II. • Join us for a collaborative presentation featuring speaker Molly McClain, PhD. Presented by MCASD and the La Jolla Historical Society, this program is the latest installment of the Ellen Browning Scripps Lecture Series. We invite you to explore the rich historical narratives that shape our region through this engaging and informative session. Ellen Browning Scripps transformed the idea of what it meant to “improve” a community. When most civic leaders of her era spoke of “beautification,” they meant adding ornamental gardens, grand buildings, and formal parks. Scripps looked at La Jolla and saw something different, a place where natural beauty could become the highest form of civic art. In her vision, preservation could be more transformative than any construction project. Tonight, we’ll look at how her philosophy shaped La Jolla, the Torrey Pines reserve, and the character of San Diego’s coastal communities.
