Our goal is to raise awareness on the impact impaired driving can have on families after a loved one is killed by a drunk or drugged driver. Why We Walk Twelve years ago, Deputy Ken Collier was killed while trying to stop a driver who was drunk and high on drugs going the wrong way on SR-52 in Santee. His life was cut short robbing his family of a son, brother and fiancé. We also lost a treasured colleague. Impaired driving impacts two out of three people in their lifetime. Every hour, someone is killed in a DUI crash. There are real people behind these numbers. Together, we can stop drunk and drugged driving, as well as prevent underage drinking by simply walking. All of the funds raised from the walk will help to educate youths and parents about the consequences of underage drinking and driving. Some of the money will be used to help victims or close loopholes in many existing laws.

Greetings, A Better Life Together, Inc. and The BRIDGE Project Team is partnering with Amazon to provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities. We are hosting a free resource fair that day with Amazon on site to help with completing and submitting applications and to discuss reasonable accommodations. This will be an exciting event with other opportunities to get help enrolling in Medi-Cal and Cal Fresh, get connected with food distributions across the county and many other education opportunities for employment and support through the San Diego Regional Center. Families and their furry friends are invited to join us for a day of fun, festivities, music, food and more! Registration is free. Fundraising is encouraged. DogFest San Diego celebrates the community of people and dogs that make it possible for Canine Companions to place service dogs with people with disabilities, free of charge. These expertly-trained service dogs make a profound impact on their human partners’ lives through the jobs they do, including opening doors, picking up dropped items, alerting to sounds and much more.
