Wow! Nice costume you got there.... wait a sec, That's not a Costume! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It's that time of year once again. We return to the Haunted Williams Hall for our always popular Saps HOWL-O-SCREAM SHOW. Ghosts, Ghoulies and Saps will enjoy a fun filled program of all things Spooky. First, a CartOOn so scary, you won't believe me. Then a real, honest to goodness 3-D treat on 16mm film, "Murder In 3-D." 3-D glasses provided. Then, James Finlayson (Judge Foozle) is being pursued by the murderous slasher. But, no need to worry. Stan and Ollie are hired to protect(?) the Judge. It's the hilarious, do detectives think? Followed by another 3-D treat as our guest comedians, The Three Stooges are chased around a haunted house in "SPOOKS!" Also, in 16mm which has been generously loaned to us by Fellow Son Paul Mular. After an Intermission of terrifyingly delicious treats, it's our Boys in the laugh with a second comedy thriller, "A Haunting We Will Go." Featuring Dante the Magician, and the lovely Sheila Ryan. So, bring the kids, neighbors and complete strangers to this fun filled evening. Oh yes, if enough people show up in costume, we will have a contest. And as always, extra added surprises will abound.

The annual street fair returns to San Diego Avenue and will benefit students visiting Old Town. The annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration in Old Town will kick off with a street fair on October 29 and 30, 2022 and will culminate with the traditional candlelight procession starting at Sundown, November 2. The free street fair, produced by The Old Town San Diego Foundation and hosted by the Old Town Chamber of Commerce is sponsored by AT&T and McDonalds. More than 50 booths will be on hand with everything from face painters to food items, crafts, local artisans, and community groups. There will be a kids’ craft area, a stage with live entertainment and a beer garden as well. The event will run the length of San Diego Avenue from Twigg St south to El Campo Santo Cemetery. A portion of the proceeds from the two-day event will support the Old Town San Diego Foundation which provides grants to underserved schools for field trips to Old Town San Diego for elementary students. The street fair celebration will be from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Originating in Mexico, Día de los Muertos is a celebration to remember and honor those who have departed. Traditionally, the streets near cemeteries are filled with decorations, flowers, candy calaveras and parades. Mexican families create special altars displaying offerings of food, candles, incense, ochre yellow marigolds, and photos of departed loved ones. Representing the more traditional celebration of Dia de los Muertos, the annual procession will take place on Nov. 2, 2022, beginning in front of the Immaculate Conception Church, located at San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street. The procession will commence at 6 p.m. and will travel down San Diego Avenue to El Campo Santo Cemetery. Throughout the weekend up until November 2, restaurants, businesses, museums, and shops will be creating traditional and contemporary Día de los Muertos altars (ofrendas). Unique ofrendas will honor historic Old Town figures, as well as more current stories. A public ofrenda will be in El Campo cemetery where visitors are encouraged to add their own mementos, photos, and written tributes to loved ones. It is highly suggested that visitors take public transportation using the San Diego Trolley or the MTS bus system as parking will be limited. This season’s “Women in Music Festival” focuses on the role women have had on both music composition and performance in our history. The next performer is talented Organist, Caroline Robinson. Hailing from St. Philip in Atlanta, Robinson has been featured as a solo recitalist in many venues across the United States. Her playing has been broadcast on American Public Media’s “Pipedreams LIVE,” and Philadelphia-based public radio station 90.1 WRTI’s Wanamaker Organ Hour. She is a prize winner at several distinguished organ competitions like Dublin International (2014) and the Albert Schweitzer (2010).

Join us at AR Workshop Coronado for creative and crafty Summer Art Camps! This morning session camp is $225 per registrant, and runs from Monday-Thursday from 9:00 am-12:00 pm each day. Our camps are designed for girls and boys, ages 7-14. Kids will create 4 DIY youth projects and a DIY ARt apron over the course of the camp! Participants will be able to customize and choose their project designs and paint colors from our decor line of paints!
