For 6-8 year olds: Campers will create mixed media drawings and paintings inspired by Spring. We’ll introduce a variety of fundamental drawing techniques, in addition to working with various art mediums! For 9-12 year olds: Campers will learn how to draw realistically, using the Monart method to break all objects down into elements of shape. All skill levels welcome! What will kids learn with San Diego Craft Collective? For 6-8 year olds: Campers will explore Spring-inspired crafts, blending skills and techniques across mediums. With an emphasis on woodworking, campers will create a fun, high-quality craft to take home! For 9-12 year olds: Campers will learn about game making and pinball machine building! Using multiple mediums and materials, campers will bring their creative ideas to life in the form of a handmade Pinball Machine! STEAM principles apply at every turn. The Coronado Philharmonia Orchestra presents a violin and harp duet, on Friday, April 21 at 1 p.m. Ciara Dabkoswski (violin) and Stefan Wendel (harp) will be playing "Saint-Saens' Fantaisie" for Violin & Harp, "Piazzolla's Histoire du Tango", and "Kreutzer-Boscha's Nocturne No.1" in Bb. Stefan Wendel and Ciara Dabkowski are a violin and harp duo from San Diego, CA. They met playing for the Villa Musica Summer Orchestra in 2016 and regularly perform together in various ensembles, including the Coronado Philharmonia, City Ballet Orchestra, and La Jolla Symphony. Stefan received his degree in harp performance from the Royal Academy of Music in London and now serves as principal harpist with the City Ballet Orchestra while pursuing a graduate degree in Mathematics. Ciara received her degree in Mathematics from UCSD and in addition to her career as a software engineer, serves as orchestra manager and librarian for both the City Ballet Orchestra and Villa Musica Summer Orchestra. In the waning hours of the autumn dusk, a SEAL Delivery Vehicle (SDV) was maneuvered through the air by a crane, almost as if it were underwater, and inserted into the 2nd story window of the Navy SEAL Museum San Diego (NSMSD) on Kettner Blvd in downtown San Diego. This will be one of the many exhibits on display to visitors when the museum opens in the summer of 2025. On Thursday, April 17, 2025, the museum’s Executive Director, Brian “Beef” Drechsler, Captain, USN (Retired) will visit the Coronado Historical Association to provide an update on the Museum’s exciting progress. He will highlight aspects of the visitor experience and its many unique attributes like a virtual reality module, giving museum visitors a sense of what a real SEAL mission is like from mission planning to extraction. About Barbara Baxter Barbara Baxter studied wine academically at the Sorbonne in Paris and has continued her inquiry into the heritage of wine for more than a decade. She created visitor education programs for Francis Ford Coppolaʼs Rubicon Estate and has worked for Napa Valleyʼs most prestigious wineries: Sterling Vineyards and Opus One. She is the editor of Planet Wine and has also made wine in Napa Valley. Baxter has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, has lectured at major museums and universities in California, including the Getty Malibu, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Athenaeum Arts & Music Library, UC Berkeley, UC San Diego, Muzeo Museum and Cultural Center in Orange County, and The Huntington.
