  • This workshop is canceled Join Meg Rosko of Nutmeg & Honeybee, as we learn to create a modern embroidery hoop. This class includes two options for creating a design. The first option is for students who feel comfortable enough to draw on a blank canvas and create their own design. The second allows students to receive a pre-drawn embroidery hoop so that they can focus on the stitches rather than the design. Topics covered: Satin stitches, french knots, turkey stitches, working with rope and yarn, and learning how to add beads. Students will choose their own color palette at the beginning of class and any materials that they use during the workshop will be included in their take-home kit. Students most likely will not have the chance to finish their embroidery during class, so Meg recommends asking as many questions as possible and taking videos of the stitches needed to complete at home. Modern embroidery is an art form that allows for a lot of mindful stitching and connecting with other attendees, so it’s the perfect class for anyone looking for a little creative break. Drop-off class for ages 8-12 & all skill levels SOCIALS: Facebook & Instagram

  • The German Renaissance, which was part of the Northern Renaissance, was an artistic and cultural advancement that spread among German intellectuals during the 15th and 16th centuries. German humanism emerged at this time in various German states and principalities. Importantly, Germany produced two crucial developments that were to dominate the 16th century all over Europe: printing and the Protestant Reformation. Perhaps the most influential artist of the 16th century in Germany was Albrecht Dürer who was known for his printmaking and engraving, as was the artist Lucas Cranach the Elder. Cranach was the court painter to the Electors of Saxony. Their work along with the art of Hans Holbein, the accomplished portrait painter, will be discussed in this presentation, as well as some of the artists of the Danube School. Date: Jan. 19, 2022 Time: 11:00am-12:00pm Location: Timken Museum of Art (Virtual) Cost: Free For more information on this event please visit HERE!
  • "Do You Think Too Much Too?" is a one-day pop-up exhibition at The Hill Street Country Club featuring the work of artist Addy Lyon. From the gallery: Addy Lyon is an interdisciplinary artist located in Vista, CA. She creates art with the motive of personal healing while revealing her own truths in an array of mediums. She is very intrigued by using materials which are traditionally overlooked, highlighting the use of pre-existing materials like newspaper, fabrics and thread. There are many conversations to be had regarding mental health, societal norms and the feminine experience which she relays through creative expression. In hopes for viewers to think about these concepts she creates for herself while also holding space for others to have their own perspectives on the pieces she creates.
