The Gaslamp Quarter Association invites locals and tourists alike to get started early on their Independence Day Celebrations with the return of the 3rd of July Laser Show. The Gaslamp Quarter’s colorful history dating back to 1850, combined with its modern-day, world-class boutiques, galleries, restaurants, bars, and clubs are what make it THE place to celebrate any occasion, especially the 2022 Independence Day. On Sunday, July 3rd from 4PM-10PM, the Gaslamp Quarter will be celebrating in style along 5th Avenue with a dynamic 4th of July inspired custom Laser Show and free live entertainment from 4pm-10pm! The GQA invites attendees to deck themselves out in their patriotic best and head on down as The Quarter is transformed into the biggest pre-game for the 4th of July! This Laser show is not to be missed as laser technicians are set to wow onlookers with state-of-the-art digital graphics and awe-inspiring effects. A DJ will be spinning throughout the evening to get the party started! Guests will want to come early this year as the Gaslamp Quarter brings in the gigantic, show-stopping Budweiser Clydesdales for an unforgettable photo-op starting at 4pm. The Budweiser Clydesdales made their first-ever appearance on April 7, 1933. From the Prohibition era to Super Bowl commercials, there is perhaps nothing more iconic in Budweiser’s storied history than its team of Clydesdale horses. More than just a mascot, the Clydesdales have been an integral part of Anheuser-Busch for more than 80 years. Now they are making their way back to the Historic Gaslamp Quarter on July 3rd , 2022! They have come to not only help the city of San Diego prepare of another Padres homestand but to raise awareness to the Folds of Honor Foundation that provides scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. Home to a culinary hotspot, the Gaslamp Quarter’s participating restaurants will offer food and drink specials throughout the evening! Gaslamp Quarter retail businesses will also offer shopping specials to commemorate the nationhood of the United States!   • After a two-year hiatus, the Spreckels Organ Society, a non-profit organization curating concerts and performances in the heart of Balboa Park, on the historic Spreckels Organ, is proud to announce the return of its the very popular Insider’s Tour. The tour enables organ fans to take a very rare “close up” look at the inner workings of the largest open air musical instrument in the world. Included in this tour is an opportunity to enter the organ’s Wind Chest —the “Heartbeat of the Organ”— where very few people are allowed into this pressurized vault portion of the instrument. Organ Curator Dale Sorenson will welcome guests and present a brief seminar on exactly how the organ operates. A continental style breakfast will be provided. Guests will then be treated to a private performance on the instrument by San Diego Civic Organist Raul Prieto Ramirez. Finally, guests will then be ushered on tours inside the organ itself to see up-close the more than 5,000 pipes that make up this amazing instrument. Then, they will be allowed to enter the pressurized Wind Chest where Sorenson will provide a unique insight rarely seen by the public.
