Art As Healing: Honoring Women’s Stories is a community gathering exploring the powerful intersection of creativity, healing, and human connection. Hosted by Womanity Portrait Foundation, this evening brings together artists, survivors, and community members to reflect on how art can serve as a tool for emotional healing, resilience, and self-reclamation. The event will feature short talks, personal stories from breast cancer survivors, visual art installations, and an open mixer designed to foster meaningful conversation and genuine connection. This special event aims to educate our wonderful community about the effects of clothing and textile waste and highlight the importance of embracing sustainable fashion practices. Join us for a delightful mini textile repair clinic, where you can bring your textile items that need a little love and mending. The La Jolla Historical Society (LJHS) invites families from across San Diego to enjoy a day of creativity and community at the launch of their new family event series, Growing Together. The inaugural event takes place on Sunday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., expanding LJHS’s popular Family Day / Play Day in partnership with the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego (MCASD). Families will enjoy collaborative, hands-on art making with artist and educator Emily Grenader and MCASD, circus arts and performances with Fern Street Circus, community partner booths, a taco truck and lawn games all at no cost.
