The Chicano Block Party is an annual celebration of Chicano art, culture, and community presented by the California Center for the Arts Museum in honor of Chicano Heritage Month in California. Inspired by the exhibitions and artists featured at the Museum, the event brings together artists, musicians, lowrider clubs, community organizations, and visitors for a day of art, music, food, and cultural programming. Event Highlights Lowrider Car Show Presented in collaboration with Lady Lowriders Car Club, the car show celebrates the craftsmanship, creativity, and cultural traditions of lowrider culture. Art Market & Printmaking Fair Browse original artwork, prints, zines, books, apparel, and handmade goods from local artists, publishers, and independent vendors. The Museum Sculpture Courtyard will also feature live printmaking demonstrations and hands-on activities organized in collaboration with the San Diego Printmaking Society. Ukrainian Heritage Celebration 2026 on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Ingram Plaza in Liberty Station. Many of these entrepreneurs came to San Diego after being displaced by the war in Ukraine. They are now rebuilding their lives, establishing local businesses, creating jobs, and sharing Ukrainian food, art, products, and traditions with the broader community. Their journeys offer meaningful local stories of resilience, entrepreneurship, and cultural preservation. This workshop demystifies the process by breaking down how experience, scale, medium, and market shape value, and offers strategies for maintaining consistent, professional pricing—whether selling independently or through galleries. We’ll also cover online sales platforms like Saatchi, Fine Art America, RedBubble, and Society6, outlining what artists need to succeed, from strong images and bios to a cohesive body of work. Participants will leave more confident in pricing their art and better prepared to expand their reach online. Ricardo Rabines and Taal Safdie of Safdie Rabines Architects will present their firm’s design for the expansion of the Oceanside Museum of Art. This represents a significant milestone in the evolution of this local landmark, increasing the museum’s campus by 50 percent to occupy a full city block. The project preserves and adapts two historic Irving J. Gill landmarks, the 1934 former City Hall and the 1929 Fire Station No. 1, while introducing new gallery space, a dedicated education center, and expanded public programming. TrueCare will host its annual Flourish & Nourish Health Fair on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at TrueCare’s Vista Way Health Campus, 3998 Vista Way in Oceanside. The free, family-friendly event will offer health care services, community resources, wellness activities and breast milk donation information to support North County families. The event will feature free health and dental screenings, food distribution, a backpack giveaway— with backpacks available on a first come, first served basis— to help students prepare for the new school year and a blood drive in partnership with San Diego Blood Bank. Attendees can also enjoy music from a live DJ, family-friendly activities, prize giveaways and interactive booths hosted by local organizations sharing health, wellness and family support resources. “Flourish & Nourish is about making health care and community support easier to access for local families,” said TrueCare President and CEO Michelle Gonzalez. “By bringing screenings, food resources, school supplies and trusted partners together in one place, families can take advantage of different resources to support their health and well-being.” In partnership with the University of California Health Milk Bank, the event will feature a breast milk drive to help ensure medically fragile and premature infants have access to the nourishment they need. Nursing mothers with extra breast milk are invited to enroll with the milk bank and drop off their donation at the event. There will also be opportunities for interested donors and recipients to learn more about the donor process and benefits of nutritious human donor milk.
