Moondaddy is helmed by multi-instrumentalist Cara Potiker, and the upcoming album "Poet Lies" will come out Aug. 18 on the Volar Records label. Indie dream pop artist moondaddy first began in singer/songwriter Cara Potiker’s San Diego bedroom, dreamt up as a pressure valve for the existential dread of the 2020 lockdown. During that time Potiker began diving deep into analog audio, spending hours in her bedroom songwriting and making physical demo tapes.After pairing with Texas-based producer El Cosmophonico (real name Manuel Calderon), Potiker began transforming those demo tapes into expansive reverb-soaked odysseys with her forthcoming debut album, Poet Lies. The City of Encinitas will present work by artist Juan Flores. This is Mr. Flores’ first post-pandemic exhibition. Mr. Flores’ works show an optimistic conceptual approaches that, at times, reflect a seascape, a feeling, a memory, or a dream. Many of his paintings depict Encinitas and North San Diego beaches images. The artist uses intense colors to make vanishing memories vivid images and recapture a fading dream or a distant event. This imagery recreates the past in a light somewhere between the real and the surreal. At other times the artist paints the ocean as seen by the surfer floating on the water, waiting for the next wave. The image recreates the feeling of distance from the shore and the dance between sky and sea. Other times the sea is shown in a moody light during the early morning or in the twilight before complete nightfall. Many of his paintings include his dog Louie….find Louie!
