Learn to needle felt! Sunday, February 9, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. Experience the magic of wool and learn how to paint using needle felting techniques! In this 3-hour workshop, we will create a marine landscape by layering and felting wool, as well as blending colors together. The addition of yarns will add texture and hues to your creation. Ocean and sunset make wonderful subjects for needle paintings! This class requires the use of sharp needles and you will be provided with fingers guards. No experience necessary. Ages 12+ welcome. Make Tiny Ceramics! Join me in the land of miniatures. You will learn how and get to create tiny pottery on a mini pottery wheel. No previous pottery experience necessary! In this 2-hour class, you will learn to create 1-3 tiny pots and can add some color if you would like to. You will learn how to center the clay and open it up to form tiny pots, bowls, or plates. This class is a great way to learn the basics of a wheel on a small scale. It is less intimidating and is an accessible way to throw and center clay. Grab a friend or family member who’s been curious about ceramics and come join me in creating tiny pottery! This class includes clay, under glazing and firing of the clay. The clay cannot be taken home at the time of the class because it must be kiln fired. The turn around is 1-2 weeks for drying, glazing, and firing before you pick up your miniature creations. No experience necessary. The devastation of the LA fires impacted so many people, and the recovery path for families with special needs is even more daunting. TERI has learned that over 240 homes burned within L.A.’s special needs community, and as a response, has put together a community event to raise funds for our neighbors up north. On February 1, TERI will host a benefit concert to help support special needs families impacted by the LA fires. Restoring Hope: A Benefit Concert for Special Needs Families will take place at The Bornemann Theatre, located at TERI Campus of Life, and will begin at 3:30 p.m. 100% of proceeds from the benefit concert will support three L.A. Regional Centers working directly with families with kids, adults, and seniors with special needs. Tickets for the concert can be purchased online and are $50 for general admission and $75 for front row seating. TERI Common Grounds Café will be open for lunch, dinner and concessions stands during the concert. The benefit concert will feature unforgettable performances by: Sara Jade Band – Captivating vocals and soulful melodies. [3:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.] Adin Boyer – American Idol and Autism advocate.
