There's gnome better thing to do than read! Join the gnomes and snag a new book from the library to read this winter. Join the Coronado Library's Winter Read Challenge and log your reading for a chance to earn prizes! The Challenge starts on December 21 and runs through Jan. 31, 2025. Kids ages 0-10 earn a gnome rubber duck and a backpack by reporting 5 books. Kids can report up to 10 books to earn a fidget toy and a free hamburger (or cheeseburger or grilled cheese) from In-n-Out. Books read to a child or that they read to a sibling or friend count too. Teens in 6th to 12th grade can earn an entry into a gift card raffle by reporting two books they read. Teens can report up to four books for two entries into the raffle and two free subs. Adults earn an entry into the gift card raffle by reporting a book you've read. Adults can report up to two books for two entries into the raffle. Anything you read counts as a book- books, graphic novels, audiobooks, ebooks, and more. Raffles will be drawn on February 1. There’s gnome place like the library for reading fun. Tyler Grant is a National Flatpicking Champion and renowned guitarist, singer, songwriter, storyteller, producer, and educator. His adventurous career has spanned the better part of thirty years, and has taken him from his roots in East County San Diego to sideman to bandleader and from young hotshot to mentor in the bluegrass, Americana, and jam band scenes. His sixth solo release, Tryin’ To Have A Good Time, captures the image of a life-long wanderer staking out musical roots which extend to a canopy of song, inviting the listener into a home long sought after. Tyler founded the Cosmic Americana band Grant Farm® in 2010. After five albums, a collaborative release with Fruition (the celebrated Meeting On The Mountain EP), eleven episodes of the Meeting On The Mountain LIVE Broadcast®, and hundreds of concerts and festival sets around the United States, the band called an indefinite hiatus, seeking new directions during the “Great Pause” of 2020. Those new directions included becoming a river rafting guide and hosting musical raft adventures. Third Sunday Craft is a monthly gathering of creative writers that fosters support, inspiration, and community. More than craft classes, Third Sunday Craft will help you construct and sustain a writing practice. New focus topics for each session will challenge writers to explore and expand their craft. Generative writing prompts will encourage you to grow and learn in exciting new ways. Sharing your work within a safe, supportive community will help you discover and strengthen your voice.
