San Diego's favorite art duo Brian & Ryan return with the fourth annual Kitschmas Pageant, unveiling an all-new holiday adventure: "The Kitschmas Tree Lot and the Case of the Missing Nose." Expect an evening of festive music, offbeat storytelling, jolly performances, and Yuletide absurdity as the artists bring their wonderfully weird holiday universe to life. The pageant runs alongside Brian & Ryan's 11th annual Kitschmas exhibition at the Athenaeum Art and Music Center, a maximalist celebration of plastic memories and all things seasonally saccharine. Holiday lovers and Scrooges alike are invited to grab a cup of cheer and join us as we make the season just a little more merry and bright.

Join us for two uplifting concerts celebrating racial justice! The weekend starts with a breathtaking performance by Tonality, a two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning choral ensemble based in Los Angeles. Their performance is followed by our Sankofa Celebration Concert, featuring FUMCSD’s Masterwork Chorale and Chancel Choir and conducted by Dr. Alexander Lloyd Blake. All proceeds from the concert support FUMCSD’s Racial Justice Ministry, as we pursue repentance, justice, and reconciliation and commit to a new way of being. Proceeds will help commission a special piece of sacred art for our Sanctuary celebrating the Imago Dei—the image of God—in the beautiful diversity of humanity. CONCERT DETAILS: Tonality: Saturday, November 7 at 4 p.m. in FUMCSD Sanctuary Tonality, the two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning choral ensemble from Los Angeles, brings America Will Be to First United Methodist Church of San Diego. Under the direction of founder Dr. Alexander Lloyd Blake, 16 Tonality vocalists, joined by instrumentalists and soloists, present a program that asks what America owes its people and what it can still become. At its center is "Running From, Running To: A Musical Reflection on Ahmaud Arbery," co-written by Blake and Ogi. The work premiered at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in 2025 and appears on Tonality’s album "Songs of Remembering" (Bright Shiny Things, 2026). For ten years, Tonality has used music to tell stories that call people toward each other and toward action. This concert carries that work to San Diego for one night. San Diego Folk Heritage welcomes back performers and audience members for our annual Train Song Festival. There will be engines running around the park courtesy of Poway-Midland Railroad (for a nominal fee that supports the railroad), model trains in the Porter House, and some of San Diego’s best musical talent on the gazebo stage from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Be sure to check out the Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the Artisan Market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Old Poway Park. The Master of Ceremonies will be master storyteller Marilyn McPhie. Free music on the gazebo stage, with shaded seating. The performance schedule is as follows: 10 am: Tyler Stamets is a lifelong musician, songwriter, and performer who grew up in the mountain town of Julian. His style is an eclectic mix of unexpected covers and heartfelt originals with a folk and bluegrass flair. 11 am: Kismet brought the Bella Lunas together: Rhea, an ASL interpreter; Sheena, a CODA (Child of a Deaf Adult); and Lily, a Deaf artist. Their collaborative musical expression creates a mesmerizing experience you can see, hear, and feel. Noon: JT Moring is a dynamic entertainer known for incisive songs and stories with audience engagement. He will be joined by local musicians Cara Cormier, Richie Strell, and Terry Wardell. 1 pm: Birds on a Train is an indie-folk band that loves good melodies and works to deliver them in unexpected ways. They are known for tight harmonies, whimsical tastes, and an irreverence for everything but the good green earth. This trio includes Kristen Maher, Jessica Barlow, and Bonnie Nichols. 2 pm: With tuneful, thoughtful and melodic songs, adroit playing, and excellent singing, Joe Rathburn has been entertaining the San Diego community (particularly Padres fans) for over 40 years. 3 pm: The Art Street Boys are a San Diego-based musical group that performs original music, in the folk-rock style of the 1960s, using unique instrumentation and fine vocals blend to present a sweet and fun experience for the listener.
