  • Cardiff 101 Main Street Hosts 2024 Encinitas Mayoral Election Forum Cardiff 101 Main Street, in collaboration with the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Town Council Committee, is proud to announce the upcoming Encinitas Mayoral Election Forum. This important event will take place at the Ada Harris School Auditorium, located at 1508 Windsor Road, Cardiff, CA 92007, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The forum provides a valuable opportunity for Encinitas residents to engage directly with the candidates for the position of Encinitas Mayor. Each candidate will have the chance to respond to questions submitted by the community, offering insights into their policies and vision for the future of Encinitas. Residents are encouraged to submit their questions in advance. Cardiff Town Council seeks to inform resident voters of candidate views on local matters. The public is encouraged to submit their questions for the candidates to encmayorquestions@gmail.com between September 3 and September 15, 2024. The public's questions will be reviewed and compiled by the CTC committee and the moderator one day prior to the forum. Based on past experience, there will be an abundance of questions, and not all questions will be asked. No questions will be accepted after the deadline or on the day of the event. The forum will be moderated by Stephen Wyer, a respected journalist and podcaster known for his work on the Stay Classy Podcast. Steve has reported on local politics, crime, and enterprise for The Coast News, The Union (Sacramento), CBS Los Angeles, and several Los Angeles Area newspapers. Steve holds a B.A. in Journalism from UCLA. Since Encinitas' incorporation in 1986, the Cardiff-by-the-Sea Town Council has held Election Forums to bring candidates for elected city office together to share their perspectives on important community questions. Now, as a committee of Cardiff 101 Main Street, the Cardiff-by-the Sea Town Council continues to host forums for the offices of Encinitas District 3 Council Member (not up for election this year) and Encinitas Mayor. Cardiff-by-the-Sea Town Council uses this format in response to the community’s desire for a more local, Cardiff and Encinitas-focused forum, rather than one addressing regional/national issues. Having questions submitted in advance allows our moderator to parse topics and create a more informative and cohesive forum. Save the date and join us for an evening of informative dialogue and community engagement!
