  • In this six-week course, students will explore the fundamentals of 3D design while working hands-on with clay. Students will learn how to transform a lump of clay into a variety of forms, learning pinch, coil, and slab building, and creating a final project that showcases their skills. Ceramics offers a multi-sensory learning experience that supports different learning styles and encourages problem-solving, fine motor development, and confidence through experimentation and revision. Along the way, students will also strengthen collaboration, critical thinking, and an appreciation for creativity, culture, and community. • "Echoes of the Vast" - Paintings by Meghan Berkeley Augustine Presented by Earth / House / Hold Saturday, June 20, 2026 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Earth / House / Hold 340 16th Street, Studio 26 San Diego, CA 92101 Instagram: @earth_house_hold Email: earthhousehold.studio@gmail.com A small afternoon gathering centered around painting, atmosphere, land, and sustained looking. Preparing the studio for "Echoes of the Vast" — the first installation and soft launch of Earth / House / Hold. Beginning with my own paintings is a way of establishing the space’s curatorial language and presence before future exhibitions and invited artists. Earth / House / Hold is an artist-run curatorial platform devoted to the slow encounter between work, material, land, time, and the wild conditions that shape perception and place. My work explores how landscapes absorb time, memory, and traces of passage through layered material processes that respond to shifting conditions, rather than depicting something fixed. Growing up between Southern California and Arizona, I remain drawn to vast arid landscapes where erosion, accumulation, atmosphere, light, and surface carry history forward. I studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York, NY with Alice Aycock and Shirley Irons, and later received an MFA from The Claremont Colleges - Claremont Graduate University and an MA in Arts Management from the Peter F. Drucker School of Management in Claremont, California. My work is held in public and private collections across the United States. • In 2001, filmmaker Aljafari, briefly imprisoned in his teens by the Israeli Occupation during the first Palestinian Intifada of 1989, set out on a north-to-south tour of Gaza in search of a man he’d met while behind bars, bringing along a local guide, Hasan, and a MiniDV camera with which to document his journey. Some two decades later, Aljafari revisited the footage he’d captured, and from it sprang this plaintive, lyrical travelogue, a loving record of cities, neighborhoods, and gathering places since reduced to rubble, of people whose current fates are unknown. Not a work of “nostalgia” for bygone times—incoming ordinance was a reality a quarter century ago, and the subjects of "With Hasan in Gaza" all seem to have their stories of savage raids and worse—but a work that brims with its maker’s affection for all that he sees and shows. • Based on a true story, the performer everyone wanted to see “live” in 1940s New York was Florence Foster Jenkins, an enthusiastic soprano whose pitch was far from perfect. Known as “the first lady of the sliding scale,” she warbled and screeched her way through the evening to an audience who mostly fell about with laughter. But this delusional and joyously happy woman paid little attention to her critics. Instead, she was surrounded by a circle of devoted friends who were almost as eccentric as she was. This hilarious comedy is appropriate for all ages and, although is not classified as a musical, it contains both music and dance. Visit: https://www.powpac.org/?utm_source=Vesta&utm_medium=Referral
