Scripps Institution of Oceanography Oarfish are rarely known around the world as living sea-serpents and creatures out of folklore. Two rare specimens washed up on San Diego beaches in 2024. Both ended up in the Scripps Marine Vertebrate Collection, where scientists studied and preserved them. Learn more about these rarities and the collection that houses them.
