  • Conversational Hebrew Classes are the perfect opportunity to take your Hebrew fluency to the next level. In this advanced-level course, you will broaden your vocabulary, talk about diverse factual topics, and gain the ability to give and receive detailed instructions in Hebrew. Students will strengthen their conversational skills through guided dialogues, role-playing activities, and interactive discussions. Over the course of four engaging sessions, you will not only improve your speaking and listening abilities but also learn useful Hebrew idioms that bring conversations to life. By the end of these Conversational Hebrew Classes, you will be able to hold meaningful discussions on subjects such as Israeli music, art, culture, and current events. The class will also explore expressions that are common in everyday life, helping you communicate naturally and confidently.   • Bonnie Raitt is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist whose unique style blends blues, R&B, rock and pop. After 20 years as a cult favorite, she broke through to the top in the early 90s with her Grammy Award-winning albums, "Nick of Time and Luck of the Draw," which featured hits “Something to Talk About” and “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” among others.   • Buddy Guy brings his 90th birthday celebration to The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park! At nearly 90 years old, he stands as one of the most influential guitarists in American music. As a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a pioneer of Chicago’s explosive West Side sound, Buddy Guy remains a guiding force for generations of rock and blues legends. The nine-time Grammy winner has also earned a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, 38 Blues Music Awards, the Billboard Century Award, the Presidential National Medal of Arts, and the Kennedy Center Honor. Rolling Stone ranks him #23 on its list of the “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time,” underscoring his unmatched impact on modern music. Born in 1936 to a sharecropper’s family in rural Louisiana, Guy arrived in Chicago in 1957 and went on to reshape the sound of the electric guitar through groundbreaking work with Chess Records and influential recordings of his own. His recent achievements include a 2019 Grammy win for "The Blues Is Alive and Well" and the acclaimed PBS American Masters documentary "Buddy Guy: The Blues Chase the Blues Away." Together, we’ll protect our beautiful coastline, support sustainability, and make a lasting impact on our environment. We'll meet at the 17th Street Del Mar Lifeguard Station before spreading out across the beach, parks, and nearby streets to collect litter that would otherwise pollute our precious waterways. To make your efforts even more rewarding, the Del Mar Lifeguards will work with us to treat our volunteers to a delicious breakfast of eggs and pancakes. During the cleanup, we’ll use baskets from the Del Mar ShoreSaver Program—a pioneering environmental initiative led by DMVA in partnership with the City of Del Mar, EDCO, and Relic Coastal Collaborative—designed to keep our beaches pristine while promoting ecological health.   • Shelter to Soldier, in partnership with the Foundation for Women Warriors, will host its annual Sisterhood of Service event on Monday, May 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the beautiful Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach (1 Ponto Rd, Carlsbad, CA 92011). Presented by Cape Rey Carlsbad Beach, with Women of Service sponsor The Boeing Company, the event honors the strength, resilience and service of women veterans and active-duty military women. Now in its fourth year, Sisterhood of Service brings together women from all branches of the military for a day of connection, empowerment, and community. The event reflects a shared commitment by Shelter to Soldier and the Foundation for Women Warriors to uplift women who have served and address the unique challenges they face during and after military service. The event will begin with an all-levels yoga session, followed by refreshments, networking opportunities and access to resources tailored to the needs of women veterans. Attendees will also enjoy a catered lunch, hear from an inspirational guest speaker, and participate in an interactive goal-setting workshop.
