Kick off your weekend with a bite-sized happy hour version of our renowned Studio Arts workshops. Gather with friends in an artistic space designed to amplify your creative side. Join arts educator Robin Douglas, as we dip our toes into the work of celebrated artists over drinks and nibbles, followed by a rapid demonstration of their styles. You’ll then be guided to interpret these artists and create your own singular, spectacular work of art. We’ll help you express your unique style and ensure you have a blast doing it. Lively Life Drawing Don’t miss out on the chance to practice working with a live model! During this art workshop, a special guest will pose continuously while you use a variety of drawing and painting techniques to create your original work of art. “Edgeless: In the Expanded Field of Painting” brings together four Southern California-based painters whose process incorporates a blend of traditional and nontraditional media as both material and surface. In this exhibition, artists cut, stitch, burn, dye and fire their materials, creating the suggestion of a painting, while also incorporating strategies of sculpture, installation, or performance to work inseparably alongside the act of painting. The exhibition is curated by Jacqueline Marino. Artists in the exhibition include: Anna Betbeze, Molly Zuckerman-Hartung, Monique van Genderen, Lizzie Zelter SDSU School of Art and Design on Facebook / Instagram

Guests entering the exhibit will walk beneath a canopy of giant cloth monarch butterflies, representing their journey across North America, before seeing artist Itzel Islas' illustration of Lake Xochimilco and hand-painted graphic signage about Xochimilco created by Oscar Ríos and David Mondragon.

Family Art Adventures are dynamic free guided tours specially designed for families with school-aged children ages 5 to 12. Tours are offered the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10:30 a.m. Family tour themes change monthly, and each family tour is followed by a hands-on art-making activity.
