  • Create imagery or sculptures using the process of paper making! Paper is a material that is a staple in nearly every art form across the world, be it for drawing, painting or even sculpture. Inspired by different methods of paper making from easter Asia, and paper based arts such as Mexican cartonería, Students will learn how to create paper pulp using recycled paper, ways to dye the paper pulp and how to create imbedded imagery in sheets of paper or how to use the pulp as a “paper clay” to create sculptures.   • As part of the 32nd annual San Diego Latino Film Festival's 'Arte Latino' we are partnering with the 'Rhythm & Roots' Arts and Culture series (Charanga Night), Senses Human Bistro, and UCSD Park & Market to bring you an amazing night of film, art, music, dancing, food, drinks and a great time with friends old and new. We will start the night off with a meet the Artist Reception from 4:30-6 p.m. on the second floor next to the Digital Gym Cinema where you will see some amazing Art and meet some of the Artists who created it. We will be posting some artist information in the discussion portion of this invite. Arte Latino is curated by Andy Gonzalez (La Onda Arte Latino). This portion is FREE! Next (6-9 p.m.) you will be treated to some amazing LIVE music by 'Charanga NYS' lead by Joseph Aportela who also happens to be a featured artist at our Film Festival this year. The Rhythm & Roots series happens monthly at the Senses Human Bistro on the first floor and is about as good as it gets when it comes to Latin Jazz in San Diego. Heyden, a passionate supporter of nursing and generous donor, will provide a consolidated location and modern facilities for all Allied Health programs. Features include state-of-the-art simulation spaces, such as patient and operating rooms, along with hands-on skills labs and classrooms. Create a professional arm-rod-and-mouth puppet of your very own from Rene Rubalcava, owner and puppeteer of LV Puppet Studio of Las Vegas who learned the art of puppet making from a Jim Henson Muppeteer. There’s no better time to create your own one-of-a-kind fuzzy monster! In this workshop, we guide you from start to finish as you select, cut, hot glue and assemble the pieces and personality of your own customized puppet. No sewing is required in this workshop. Students bring their puppets to life with their own unique interests and imaginations, and by choice and placement of different face details. Each one is unique! Find your puppet’s voice and learn some puppetry basics. All materials included.
