  • The North City district in San Marcos is celebrating Earth Day with an evening of sustainable style, community, and conversation at Union Cowork on April 21 from 5–9 p.m. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. with a denim shop, swap, and thrift experience featuring live styling featuring Swap & Shop SD, Positive Phee, and a collective of local makers including Sew Loka, eM Pulse, and Avartan Avenue, all reimagining denim through reuse, repair, and reinvention. At 6 p.m., guests can settle in for a screening of the acclaimed documentary "RiverBlue," which explores the environmental impact of the fashion industry from river to runway to landfill. The film is followed by a post-screening conversation at 7:45 p.m. with experts leading the sustainability movement in San Diego, including Marissa Acosta, Zero Waste and Sustainability Specialist at CSUSM, and Liz of Sustainability is Sexy, a nonprofit founder and community advocate.   • We want to hear from you! The County of San Diego Planning & Development Services (PDS) invites you to attend the first Focus Group Meeting regarding the Tiered Winery Rural Residential (RR) Expansion Project. This project is part of an ongoing update to the Tiered Winery Ordinance, following a 2024 Feasibility Analysis. Through this project, the County will be looking at how different types of wineries could operate in RR zones under clear and consistent criteria. The project will entail changes to zoning rules, new operating standards, and a review of potential environmental effects under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Meeting Discussion Topic: Draft Zoning Ordinance Changes At this meeting, we will focus on drafted Tiered Winery Ordinance changes being proposed. We are looking for participation from community members who are residents in RR zones, business associates, agritourism partners, and agricultural resource organizations. Additionally, we will go over both noise buffers/setbacks for amplified live music and outdoor seating capacity for Boutique Wineries. The goal of this meeting is to obtain feedback on draft changes to the Winery Ordinance that fosters a thriving agricultural economy while maintaining harmony with nearby residents and preserved open spaces. PDS will host this in-person hybrid meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Noon. More than 150 service providers, government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations gather at the Ingram Plaza at Liberty Station Arts District to deliver critical resources in a dignified, welcoming, one-stop-shop environment. This year's event will again extend its reach to active-duty service members and their families, while continuing to serve unhoused and at-risk veterans.
