  • Program: Claude Debussy: Prélude à “L'après-midi d'un faune” (Prelude to “Afternoon of a Faun”) Claude Debussy: Fantaisie for Piano and Orchestra Gustav Mahler: Symphony No. 4 in G Major From the San Diego Sympyony: Revel in two amazing pieces by the French composer Claude Debussy. The first, Prelude to "Afternoon of a Faun," made his international reputation for its unashamed sensuality and dreamy delicacy. The second, Fantaisie for Piano and Orchestra, is remarkable for its lushness, unlike anything else the composer wrote. And who better than the amazing pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet to be at the keyboard? Then Rafael Payare will be on the podium for Mahler’s Symphony No. 4, which abounds in gorgeously colorful melodies that range from child-like innocence to deep explorations of the human soul. • Please keep in mind that we cannot guarantee lilacs at any time. Agriculture and weather have a mind of their own, and we just do what we can to accommodate the situation! It will be a season of springtime fun!! Hop on the wagon ride and enjoy the views on a scenic nature loop, try your skill with some tomahawk throwing, visit our friends at the petting zoo, enjoy a lively hoedown or pick up an instrument and join the jug band, paint a flower vase to keep, dip your very own lilac themed candle the old fashioned way, and so much more! Our very own Jesse Cross, dance caller and music man extraordinaire, will be playing live during various times to lead any willing kids and adults through the most fun jug band hootenanny you ever did see! Walk through organic lilac groves and enjoy the sweet smells and beautiful views of the surrounding Julian area! We will have some beautifully fragrant lilac stems available for purchase once they bloom and until we run out! Potted lilacs are also available to take home and plant! This old mining town has attracted people from all over because of its rich history, old time rustic charm, and of course the pies. Back in the 1960's, the area that is surrounding Fort Cross was famous for their lilacs. It's our goal to bring that same excitement and experience back to the area! With a few acres of beautiful lilac groves, we look forward to the possibilities! Although this event is perfect for couples and families, we also welcome larger groups (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, church groups, etc.) to join! We ask that large groups of 15 or more to please call ahead and let us know when you plan to arrive. Stay Connected on Social Media! Instagram & Twitter
