  • The immensely popular summer "Salsa Under the Stars" returns this summer to Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista. Running from mid July until mid September, the series will feature the Manny Cepeda Orchestra quartet and offer energetic Latin music and dancing for all ages during the center's popular weekly Farmers Market. Salsa Under the Stars will run from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on select Tuesdays: - July 14 - July 28 - August 11 - August 25 - September 15 (special hours 4 - 7 p.m. -- Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration) "This free program has proven extremely popular with our community, perfect for anyone interested in getting their salsa on," said Otay Ranch Town Center General Manager Tim Kilcourse. "No partner is needed, all skill levels are welcome and the event features basic instruction and fantastic live music to get your feet moving," added Kilcourse. Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, bandleader Manny Cepeda has both a Bachelors in Music Education and Masters in Music and retired from the Navy as the top Enlisted Bandmaster after 31 years of service. In 2004 the Manny Cepeda Orchestra was born and has become the top Classic Salsa Band in San Diego County.
