About The Mad Hat Hucksters THE MAD HAT HUCKSTERS are a swing band from San Diego, playing the music of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s. Founded by swing dancer Morgan Day in 2015, this sextet finds their sound in the style of small combo jazz bands of the swing era, emulating greats like Fats Waler, Sydney Bechet, and Louis Armstrong. Playing a variety of music from traditional jazz to swing to early rhythm and blues, listeners are guaranteed to hear music that will get your feet tapping and up on the dance floor. ''. . . an infectious groove and playful interactions between the saxes and then the guitars . . . . well constructed enough for listening but never leaves the dancers hanging . . . . Mission accomplished.'' Then join the ADAM WOLFF QUARTET as they return to Golden Island Dim Sum & Asian Cuisine for the 252nd installment of Dim Sum & Jazz - one of San Diego's longest-running weekly live music dining experiences! Seating Begins at 6 p.m. Music from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Call (858) 578-8800 for reservations! CHECK THIS VIDEO OUT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0iYlEE5KHEo About Adam Wolff Adam Wolff has been playing the piano for most of his life. Starting at the age of 8, he spent ten years studying classical piano performance, music theory, and creative music expression. Raised in New York and Chicago, he returned to New York City in the 80s and spent many years playing music full-time in Manhattan. While living in New York, Wolff studied with several great pianists: Barry Harris (Keeper of the Bebop Flame), Mike Longo (Musical Director for Dizzy Gillespie), and Kenny Werner (Author of Effortless Mastery and a global music legend). He also performed/recorded with many great jazz players including Victor Lewis, Calvin Hill, Rebecca Franks, and others. He was fortunate to record with two of Ahmad Jamal’s drummers: Vernel Fournier and Frank Gant. (Vernel Fournier is credited with developing the iconic drumbeat used in Jamal’s recording of “Poinciana” in the 1950s.) During this time, Wolff also taught music at the Johnny Colon School of Music in East Harlem, as well as playing in clubs, restaurants, cafes, and private engagements throughout the New York City region. In 1987, he was approached by Long Island University in Brooklyn and offered a full music scholarship. He received a degree with honors in 1990. Relocating to San Diego in the 1990s, Adam Wolff performed with different groups, ranging from jazz to popular dance music to creative expression performances. In 2004, he co-founded Blue44, a music collective with a distinctive theme of “ambient grooves”. Wolff’s music contains key elements of excitement and hard-swinging, soulful, creative musical expression. These elements come through in all his performances.
