  • Andy McKee is a world-renowned guitarist from Kansas, best known for his original compositions for steel-string acoustic guitar. After discovering the music of modern fingerstyle players like Michael Hedges, Preston Reed, and Don Ross as a teenager, McKee turned away from the electric guitar and devoted himself to exploring the possibilities of the acoustic, using altered tunings, tapping, partial capos, and percussive techniques to transform a single instrument into a full orchestra. In 2006, his original composition "Drifting" became one of the first viral videos on YouTube, and several other pieces including "Rylynn," "For My Father," and "Into the Ocean" soon followed. To date, his videos have accumulated hundreds of millions of views and inspired a new generation of fingerstyle guitarists worldwide. Artists like John Petrucci, Prince, Eric Johnson, Steve Lukather, and David Foster have recognized his talent, recording or touring with him over the years. Beyond performing in over 40 countries as a soloist, McKee founded the Musicarium in 2015, a premier fingerstyle guitar camp that has featured guest instructors including Tommy Emmanuel, Eric Johnson, Stanley Jordan, and Don Ross. In 2024 he joined forces with Trevor Gordon Hall and Calum Graham to release tripliciti, an acclaimed acoustic guitar trio project. 2025 brings a new solo guitar album and a 20th anniversary re-recording of Art of Motion. • Know a Veteran? Nominate a Veteran for the 2026 LGBT Veterans Wall of Honor Induction Ceremony will be held in November at The San Diego LGBT Community Center. The Benjamin F. Dillingham, III and Bridget Wilson LGBT Veterans Wall of Honor recognizes LGBTQ+ veterans with ties to San Diego who served under anti-LGBTQ policies, preventing their ability to serve, and serve safety and openly, as well as those who have served after the ending of those policies. These veterans have taken the oath to serve our country and have done so honorably, and with distinction, acting as role models in advancing equality. The LGBT Veterans Wall commemorates these veterans’ lives in hopes that their courage, bravery and sacrifices will continue to inspire future generations. We invite you to nominate an LGBTQ+ veteran you know whose story deserves to be uplifted. Nominees are eligible regardless of rank earned, branch of service or component  (Active, Reserve, or National Guard). Nominees may be living or deceased. Please find the list of criteria and application process on The Center’s LGBT Veterans Wall of Honor webpage.  The deadline to submit nominations is 11:59 p.m. on June 30, 2026. • Nestled under the umbrella of the North County LGBTQ Resource Center, Pride by the Beach is a program that will shelter you from any storm. Our mission is to serve, empower and advocate for San Diego North County's diverse LGBTQIA+ community. We have worked tirelessly for more than 10 years to accomplish this goal. The lifesaving services and programs we’ve created have helped thousands of LGBTQIA+ people. We are extremely proud that since the beginning of the COVID-19 global pandemic, Pride by the Beach has never closed its doors, and has in fact, increased its services to the community. Our reach extends to over 13 cities in the North San Diego region, as well as Camp Pendleton. Some of the programs we have to offer include mental health resources, support groups for our transgender friends, HIV prevention and care, and transitional housing for youth at risk for homelessness. We continue to discover innovative ways to serve our community and hope to do this for the next 10 years and beyond.
