City Tacos’ OB Playground in Ocean Beach is hosting its first dog adoption event of the year with pups from PAWS4Thought Animal Rescue on Saturday, January 6 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Stop by to meet adoptable Chihuahua mixes like Thumper and Laramie, and, if you’re hungry, grab the January Taco of the Month – the Green Machine (golden tempura green beans over a bed of arugula and topped with a fresh corn, squash, red bell pepper medley, along with a Veracruzana sauce made with cherry tomatoes, onions, and capers. It's all crowned with corn tortilla crisps, cilantro serrano aioli, and microgreens.)

The B Sections are a 5-person collective of funk jam enthusiasts assembled from the weekly open jam at Winston's Beach Club in Ocean Beach. With a focus on high-caliber musicianship, overall group tightness, and spreading the funky gospel, The B Sections seek refuge in the pocket. This tends to be the place where our musical instincts and our sonic goals become perfectly aligned. Described by one ardent fan as "incredibly taut", the music we bring our lovely fans in San Diego is a unique blend of funk and dance/party music, with a tasteful yet never pretentious seasoning of jazz influences. This event was started by Hank Deutschendorf who started West Coast Martial Arts Academy. We are officially renaming it this year in his honor not only because he loved the event but also to bring awareness to mental health struggles. All proceeds from this event will go directly to SOSL. We have created walls that create the illusion of an endless hallway with no escape. Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, Sonia De Los Santos exudes the joy she sings about. (Latin Grammy Nominee) and Esperanza. Singing in both Spanish and English, Sonia’s music is inspired by various Latin American rhythms like son jarocho, cumbia and salsa, as well as the North American folk traditions from the United States. It’s hard not to smile when she’s sharing some of her favorite things—migrating birds, friendship, chocolate, and anecdotes about growing up in Mexico and realizing her childhood dream of moving to New York. In her highly interactive performances, kids and families love singing along in Spanish and English, dancing in and out of their seats while learning about musical instruments and rhythms from Latin America. Jill Linder serves as the internal and external point person for TV programming working together with independent producers, national program distributors, vendors and public television colleagues to enact the KPBS TV programming schedule and ensure that the programs airing on KPBS meet the station's standards and mission to the community. In addition, she works collaboratively to develop and execute promotion strategies for key TV programs across all media platforms to reach the widest audience possible. Jill has been with KPBS since 2003. Prior to joining the station, Jill worked at local commercial TV stations including KUSI and KSWB (Now Fox5 San Diego). She earned her bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies from National University.
