We'll start with an all-levels practice suitable for beginners and seasoned yogis alike. Think ocean-facing flows with slow transitions (cuz you never know when a floppy-eared friend will bounce your way). Do as much or as little yoga as you like—we're all about hop-tions! The final 15 minutes will be dedicated cuddle time. We'll circle round to cradle, pet, and pose for pics with our velvety guests of honor, which include several pocket-sized babies! Director of San Diego State University’s longest-running Interdisciplinary and Cultural Studies graduate program, MALAS (the Master of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences program), Dr. William Nericcio is Professor of English and Comparative Literature at SDSU. Dr. Nericcio will lead the audience through an engaging exploration spanning the writing of Carlos Fuentes and Jean-Paul Sartre and including works presently on view at The San Diego Museum of Art, considering what it means to be “sin poder mirar,” or to exist without the power to see. The Rhoades School’s Girl Rising Club – a middle school girls-led club that works to raise money to give girls across Guatemala, Bangladesh, and the Philippines access to education – is inviting the wider community to attend their cultural bazaar on April 24 from 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. located at 910 Encinitas Blvd, Encinitas. This event is FREE to the public (no ticket required) and will feature students’ handmade crafts, jewelry, food and baked goods, and a raffle with prizes from local businesses like Cinepolis and Aloha that are available to purchase to support girls’ education worldwide. Additionally, a panel of young student refugees from the International Rescue Committee will be sharing their stories of courage and perseverance after resettling and pursuing their education in San Diego.
