  • This webinar will address mid scale composting for farms and ranches with significant quantities of organic materials, including manure. Improper disposal of organic waste is unsightly, breeds flies, and can create health issues for livestock. It also can contaminate local water sources. Using compost on your garden and landscaping conserves water, mitigates erosion, sequesters carbon, and can help your plants thrive. Come join us as we virtually visit Ramona’s International Equestrian Center to watch a windrow compost pile build in process and visit with site manager, Nancy Zadrozny. Nancy is a 33-year resident of San Diego Country Estates (the Estates) and the manager of the Estates’ Equestrian Centers and Landscape Department. She has applied her background in horticulture and ecology, along with 15 years experience as vice president of an engineering construction firm, to build a vibrant and successful composting program in her community. Following County guidelines for environmental compliance, the process in its current form produces 50 CY of finished compost every two weeks. The finished product is made available free to the Estates’ homeowners and is widely used for gardening, mulching and erosion control. This is a perfect opportunity for horse owners hoping to turn their manure into a valuable resource! This webinar is funded by the County of San Diego and is intended for residents of unincorporated County. Anyone may attend, however, the webinar recording will be available for 1 week to unincorporated County residents only. This webinar will cover: Benefits of composting Basics of windrow composting Manure management for large livestock ranches Permit considerations Made possible through generous funding by the County of San Diego & County of San Diego Recycling Thanks to our partner, the San Diego Country Estates Association Follow on social media! • From the organizer: Patio Playhouse Community Theater proudly presents "Murder Ballad," with book and lyrics by Julia Jordan and music and lyrics by Juliana Nash Patio Playhouse Community Theater is proud to present this steamy musical about a love triangle gone awry with book and lyrics by Julia Jordan and music and lyrics by Juliana Nash, now running at Patio Playhouse’s Kalmia location through November 6. The story centers around Sara, a young woman whose relationship with wild bartender Tom is supplanted for a more reasonable and stable future with NYU scholar Michael. When Sara’s itch for passion returns, she finds herself enticed by a dangerous proposition and secretly diving into a sexy affair with Tom yet again, unbeknownst to her husband and daughter. How can it possibly last? There’s something chillingly perfect about presenting a murder ballad this time of year, and the skilled cast members capitalize on the danger of October, weaving the story together in a way that has audiences on the edge of their seats. The cast of four (Josalyn Johnson as the Narrator, Sarah LeClair as Sara, Jason Schlarmann as Tom, Robert Alegria as Michael, and Kylie Buckland as Sara/Narrator U/S) are accompanied by a live band led by Music Director Jerrica Ignacio that will have audiences rocking. And, now entering its second weekend, Murder Ballad has received positive acclaim from audiences, who rave in particular about the talent of the performers and the suspense inherent to a show that mashes together musical and murder. As the season of giving rapidly approaches, Patio is thankful for any patrons who choose to support the theatre by joining as a member at any level or donating at any amount.
