The Album and “How Do I” were nominated for Best Recording and Best Pop Song at San Diego Music Awards 2021 & 2022, respectively. “Southern Winds” earned Best Music Video at Dublin Web Fest. She began her songwriting days in San Diego during college, with three previous albums recorded and produced by Aaron Bowen. She has a large body of work and subcribers on her YouTube Channel, Luieland (29K subs), and continues to explore soundscapes with a cult following. Ahoy, matey! The nautical-clad “Titans of Soft Rock,” Yachtley Crew, will be dropping anchor in San Diego this July to launch ArtPower’s summer season. For the uninitiated, Yacht Rock is a revival of the smooth soft rock and Top 40 hits from the late ’70s to early ’80s—now a nationwide sensation. Fans don captain’s hats and nautical attire, singing along to the era’s breezy, feel-good tunes. Yachtley Crew first made waves in 2017, selling out countless Southern California venues before igniting a nationwide Yacht Rock craze. City leaders joined the San Diego Wave Fútbol Club Thursday to celebrate the team's donation of nearly $50,000 to resurface a playground in Logan Heights.

For more than 20 years, Distinction Gallery has been a beacon of the Southern California art scene, specializing in representational painting—ranging from surrealism and realism to figurative works. ViralBoa, one of the gallery’s represented artists, has hand-selected an exceptional group of creators for this show, featuring Cherry Gunk, Kai Lun Qu, Ivan Flores, Kate Kennedy, Nonie Cruzado, Eric Johnson and Cole Mattingly. With the promise of the new school year also come challenges for local schools and their students. We speak to three local education reporters about those challenges and more.

Feeding San Diego, the region’s only Feeding America partner food bank, is calling on the community to help sustain and expand its growing School Pantry Program at the start of the 2025-26 school year. After adding an additional 21 school pantries to the program last school year, it is now operating at 62 schools across San Diego County. The non-profit is delivering nutritious groceries directly to students and families starting this month during back-to-school season, as high inflation continues to impact kids living in low-income households. With schools continuing to approach the non-profit to be part of the program, it's clear that there is an urgent need for support with basic needs on school campuses across the county. The School Pantry Program is a proven, longstanding hunger-relief program that provides nutritious food to students and their families on school campuses at no cost to them. In addition to the 62 schools, there is a waitlist of 58 schools who are waiting to join the program, representing thousands of households who need support bringing meals home.
