Anthony Cullins is a guitarist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist from Fallbrook, California. Anthony's musical influences include R&B, funk, soul, rock, jazz, and blues prominently displayed in his eclectic improvisational style he calls "psychedelic soul music", ranging from Eddie Hazel and Jeff Beck to George Benson and Eric Johnson with dozens of influences in between. Anthony won "Best Blues Artist" in the 2023 and 2024 San Diego Music Awards and "Artist of the Year" in the 2025 San Diego Music Awards. He is working on two studio albums, and has begun to tour in London, Norway, and all over the states. The Library's Summer Concerts offer the perfect midday musical escape in the Winn Room. Join UC San Diego Library for a lively evening of art, conversation and discovery featuring artist DeLoss McGraw in dialogue with San Diego art critic, historian and educator Bob Pincus. The program will begin with opening remarks by Lynda Claassen, Director of UC San Diego Library’s Special Collections & Archives. Drawing on his 25-year tenure as art critic for The San Diego Union-Tribune (1985–2010) and his work for the Los Angeles Times, Pincus and McGraw will offer an insider’s perspective on the exhibition "DeLoss McGraw: Painter-Poet" — on view for a limited time at Geisel Library. The genre of short story is an art unto itself. In this course, we’ll take our cue from acclaimed short story collections from authors such as Jhumpa Lahiri and Flannery O’Connor and practice weaving tight and entire short-form narratives. In a typical class, we’ll spend 10-15 minutes examining a text, and use that as a launching point to generate during the remainder of the time.
