The National City Host Lions Club's 80th Annual 4th of July Carnival returns to Kimball Park from July 1–5, 2026, bringing five days of family-friendly fun, entertainment, delicious food, thrilling rides, and community celebration. Guests can enjoy a variety of carnival attractions, including rides, games, live entertainment, face painting, and an impressive lineup of food vendors. Featured vendors include Zeze's Cuisine, Pi Food, Kujo's Eats, Mr. Joey's Tacos, Turo Churros & Donuts, The Sweet Spot, along with carnival favorites such as nachos, kettle corn, sweet treats, and more. The carnival will be open: Wednesday, July 1 – Friday, July 3: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 4 & Sunday, July 5: 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is free, and ride wristbands will be available for purchase onsite. For 27 years, International Guitar Night has thrilled audiences around the world by bringing together some of the most innovative and accomplished acoustic guitarists on the planet for one extraordinary evening of music. Returning to Poway by popular demand, IGN 2027 continues that celebrated tradition with a globally inspired lineup featuring four internationally acclaimed artists whose styles span classical, acoustic rock, Hawaiian slack key, and blues slide guitar. More than just a concert, International Guitar Night is a one-of-a-kind musical experience where artists from different cultures and genres share the stage, exchange ideas, and collaborate live in ways that are spontaneous, electrifying, and completely unique to each performance. Making her International Guitar Night debut is French classical guitarist Roxane Elfasci. She continues the tradition of virtuosic classical players that have graced our IGN lineups. Joining her is returning IGN favorite Luca Stricagnoli of Italy. LUCA STRICAGNOLI is well-known to IGN audiences for his amazing arrangements of rock classics on custom designed acoustic guitars. With over 100 million YouTube views, Luca has carved out a unique niche as a dazzling performer who has created new instruments and playing techniques. Hawaiian slack key master Jim Kimo West brings a completely different sonic landscape to the evening. JIM KIMO WEST leads a double life. In his native Hawaii he is revered for his mastery of Slack Key guitar, and has impressed IGN audiences and concertgoers around the world with his flawless technique and beautiful melodies. In his other life, he is the long-time lead guitar player for Weird Al Yankovich. Go figure. Rounding out the lineup is Australian blues powerhouse Minnie Marks. MINNIE MARKS was surprised when we first called her in her remote Australian home to join IGN, but once on stage she wowed audiences with her driving blues slide guitar and passionate vocals. Over 100 hands-on exhibits fill the ballpark, drawing more than 20,000 visitors and making this the largest event of its kind in Southern California. Programming spans the full STEAM spectrum — science, technology, engineering, arts, and math — with exhibits designed for everyone from pre-K to grandparents. A little history: Expo Day launched in 2009 at Balboa Park before finding a long-term home at Petco Park from 2010 through 2023 — thirteen consecutive years. The 2026 edition marks its return. What's there: The Illumina Stage in Gallagher Square anchors the main performances, with acts including "The Music Notes" (math-themed rap), a fusion energy show from General Atomics, and the Fleet Science Center’s “Don’t Try This at Home” demonstration. Beyond the stage, the venue is organized into specialty zones: Art pavilion: The “A” in STEAM gets its own space. This concert celebrates American music in honor of the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding. For generations, the United States has inspired composers from both within and beyond its borders, shaping works that reflect America’s landscapes, cultures, and evolving identity. This program highlights that influence, beginning with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World,” a work shaped by his impressions of America’s musical traditions. We continue with Edward MacDowell’s Suite No. 2, “Indian Suite,” one of the earliest major orchestral works by an American composer. The evening concludes with a world premiere of an original piece written by MiraCosta College Symphony Orchestra’s composer‑in‑residence, Christoph Rayburn—to commemorate this historic anniversary.
