Tour the newly restored San Diego landmark. This unique wood lath greenhouse harbors over 2,000 subtropical plants from around the world—a concentration of botanical exotica in a one-of-a-kind structure that “leaves” photographers at a loss for words. This tour’s scheduling assumes the Botanical Building will have reopened following a two-year complete restoration project. If the building is still closed to the public, another topic will be presented. Forever Balboa Park offers thematic park tours that focus on the park’s unique biodiversity and highlight the park’s horticultural wonders on the second Saturday of each month. Led by park volunteer and horticultural enthusiast Bill Edwards, the free tours leave from the Visitors Center at 10 a.m. unless otherwise indicated. Walks last 1.5 to 2 hours and are typically less than 1 mile on level terrain. It is advised that potential attendees contact the Balboa Park Visitors Center prior to the scheduled walk to determine if there are any last-minute changes or cancellations to the tours. Megan Giddings is coming to SD as the featured program of San Diego Public Library and USD Copley Library's annual Black History Month Author Talk. Giddings will discuss "Lakewood," her acclaimed debut novel, with a Q&A and book signing to follow. The International California Surf Museum, celebrating 40 years in 2026 and the first and oldest surf museum in the country, invites you to attend the 17th Annual Gala. Since 1986, CSM has been collecting and preserving the surfing history and artifacts of this popular lifestyle sport and culture as well as producing fascinating exhibits and dynamic educational programs. The funds generated from the Gala help the museum continue these efforts.
