Lantern Crest Senior Resort Living invites the community to celebrate the unveiling of a new large-scale mural honoring the people, places, and history that have shaped San Diego on Wednesday, August 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring remarks from artist David Ybarra and members of the Lantern Crest leadership team. Guests will also be invited into The Legacy for light bites and refreshments while viewing additional artwork created by Ybarra and enjoying a live jazz band. Over the course of several months, Ybarra transformed a wall on the south side of The Plaza grounds into a vibrant visual tribute to San Diego life and culture. The mural features a wide range of recognizable landmarks, historic moments, and community icons, including the Hotel del Coronado, Coronado Bridge, Pacific Beach Pier, Belmont Park, the USS Midway, the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, the Padres, the Chargers, the Gaslamp Quarter, Lakeside Rodeo, local missions, Civil Rights protests, and more.
