Come work outdoors with like-minded members of the community to help remove thousands of pounds of trash in just three hours! Each year, San Diego River Park Foundation volunteers remove more than 200,000 pounds of trash from our namesake waterway. Without our amazing volunteers, this trash would be left to pollute native animal habitats, parks and public spaces, leach contaminants into the water, and wash out into our ocean and beaches! Location: 8665 Argent Street, Santee CA 92071. Please park anywhere on Argent St or Prospect Ave. Please do not park in the brewery parking lot. The poet should develop a strategy of revision. Often the good poem is attained through rigorous revision of the original draft. We will examine different approaches to revision as well as the more esoteric poem-making tools and types of poems and their uses and effects. In this session we will begin discussion of the structure of published books of poetry. Objectives: Upon completion of this workshop, you will have: Explored different revision techniques and how they match your writing style. Identified the importance of poem titles. Considered the nature of “truth” in contemporary poetry. Discussed the history of “deep image.” Explored different types of poems. Read and analyzed two poetry books. Assignments: Each participant will choose one book of poetry and one poetry craft book and submit, by week 5, a one to two page analysis of the book and its value, or not, to the individual’s poetry writing. Poem prompts will be given each week with the anticipation that the participants will generate new work. Participants are expected to actively participate in the read and critique portions of the workshop. This class is a continuation of the Family and Beginner Sewing 102. In this next series you will learn how to sew a zippered pouch with a lining from beginning to end. You will learn to install a zipper, add lining and construct a pouch. You will apply the skills you learned in series 101 and 102 to this class to help you with all the finished touches of your pouch. It’s best to bring your own sewing machine, but you may also borrow one of ours. If bringing your own machine you MUST have a zipper foot to use with your sewing machine. Please note if bringing your own sewing machine it is very important to make sure it is fully functional. ***If you’re attending with your child, and participating only as support, just purchase 1 enrollment. Adults and age 7+ (with adult) welcome! Please be punctual to this class.
