  • Artist and oil painter, Elena Karavodin is proud to present two solo exhibitions of her artwork featuring figurative oil paintings. Both shows are rooted and inspired by her own personal experiences as an adolescent, woman, and mother. Originally, titled “Now or Never” the exhibition is now divided into two separate bodies of work, “Now” and “Never", simultaneously exhibiting in separate spaces. “Now” is her first hometown solo exhibition, at the Encinitas Community Center. Before opening to the public, the City of Encinitas cited 11 separate artworks for obscenity and removed them from the show indefinitely. On account of the imposed removal of art, Elena has produced a second exhibition titled “Never”, featuring all the original banned paintings that were removed due to censorship, currently on view at ArtHatch in Escondido, Calif. About the Artist: Elena Karavodin’s artwork features figurative studies of women. She draws from inspirations and absurdities observed from human nature, the feminine experience and random situations that we find ourselves in.
