English-American singer-songwriter and musician Graham Nash will perform live at Humphreys Concerts by the Bay on Saturday, October 15 at 7:30 p.m. Legendary artist Graham Nash, as a founding member of both the Hollies and Crosby, Stills and Nash, is a two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee who has seen rock history unfold at some of its seminal moments – from the launch of the British Invasion (that’s him on-screen in 1967, eyewitness to the Beatles global broadcast performance of “All You Need Is Love” from Abbey Road studios) to the birth of the Laurel Canyon movement a year later. An extraordinary Grammy Award® winning renaissance artist – and self-described “simple man” – Nash was inducted twice into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, for his work with CSN and his work as a solo artist, beginning with two landmark albums, Songs For Beginners and Wild Tales. From the suffrage sashes and banners of the early 1900s to the pink knitted pussy hats of the modern Women’s March movement, textiles have played an important role as a messenger for women’s activism. "Textiles" connect women throughout time. They are skills passed down from generation to generation, from mother to daughter, within the privacy of the home. The items displayed in this exhibit are evidence of women’s historical impact on our society. By celebrating craftwork as a tool of artistic and political expression, and not only as private acts of women’s labor, we see how impactful women have been in our society.
