  • While today may be pumpkin spice and everything nice, the elves at The Barn Redefined, previously known as Poway Countryside Barn, are getting ready for the holiday season, with their popular Christmas at the Barn shopping event, themed “The 12 Days of Christmas”. A wonderful place for holiday decorating ideas; one of the most anticipated features of the event is their themed Christmas trees. This year, they have twenty-six! Themes include “Under the Stars” (camping/outdoor tree), “To All a Goodnight” (black, white, green, dark blue), “Enchanted Forest” (mossy, feathers, reds), “Classic Christmas” (red velvet, classic Santa, mistletoe), “Chrismukkah” (deep blue, gold, silver), and “Mrs. Clause’s Bake Shop (reds, light blues),” to name a few. The event provides lots of holiday photo opportunities, as the exterior will be a giant gingerbread house, and a large vintage trailer will become a “Candy Shop.” This year, they will be collecting new toys, arts & crafts and hygiene products for kids of all ages for Anvil of Hope, a non-profit focused on helping low-income families, those facing homelessness and temporary hardship. Everyone who donates will receive a paper gingerbread man with their name on it to hang on a dedicated wall. New this year is a gift-wrapping section with supplies available for purchase. • Record high temperatures continue to be reported in parts of San Diego County, but it is expected to cool down a little Friday.
  • Benches is a Southern California group consisting of Anson Kelley (vocals/guitar), Ethan Bowers (drums), Evan Ojeda (lead guitar), and Charlie Baird (bass). Reminiscent of both the ceremonious majesty of 90’s Britpop and the insouciance of 2000’s NY rock, the band’s heart is rooted in defining the sound of bittersweet: A blend of joy and sadness, wrapped up into infectious indie rock. Unabashedly celebrating the naivete of youth, and the excitement and worries that come with getting older, Anson Kelley frequently draws inspiration from the travails of navigating a society where norms are exploded daily, and the chaotic backdrop is full of hurdles to your sanity – from evolving technology to fragmenting social relationships. Following the success of earlier singles such as Angry Lizard Noise and Monodrama benches worked with Grammy-nominated producer Martin Cooke on increasingly complex and nuanced songs, resulting in the release of 3 tracks in 2022, including the standout Violent. They’re currently finishing an EP to be released this Summer to coincide with upcoming tour dates. The band have played with notable acts such as Foster The People, Dave Keuning (The Killers) and Louis XIV, and previously toured the US with Ultra Q, I Don’t Know How But They Found Me, and The Red Pears. • After twenty five years making waves in the scene, Infected Mushroom has earned their reputation as a groundbreaking legend in electronic music. Twice ranked amongst the world’s “10 Best DJ’s” by DJ Magazine, with streaming numbers in the tens of millions and a cult following of die-hard fans, the Israel-bred, LA-based duo has created one of the most powerful kingdoms in the world of electronic music. The combined force of Israeli producers Amit “Duvdev” Duvdevani and Erez Eisen, Infected is world-renowned for their sonic innovations, genre-defying sound, and unrivaled production quality. This trademark sound is cultivated through hypnotic arrangements, layered melodies, and a willingness to blur the lines of genre. While widely recognized as pioneers of psytrance music, over the years Infected has demonstrated an ability to not only break the rules, but create their own rulebook entirely, and inspire other artists to do the same. Since 1999, they have been on a non stop worldwide tour, selling out shows and headlining festivals around the globe. This year Infected Mushroom is celebrating twenty five years as a powerhouse of electronic music, and they are honoring this milestone with a new album - aptly named “IM25”. When the Covid-19 pandemic shuttered live shows in 2020, Duvdev and Erez took advantage of being off the road by cooking up yet another album of bangers. Infected has always been a master of collaborations, and “IM25” is no exception with tracks featuring Bliss, Hope 6, Ninet Tayeb, Nick Hexum from 311, and more.
