We want to hear from you! The County of San Diego Planning & Development Services (PDS) invites you to attend the first Focus Group Meeting regarding the Tiered Winery Rural Residential (RR) Expansion Project. This project is part of an ongoing update to the Tiered Winery Ordinance, following a 2024 Feasibility Analysis. Through this project, the County will be looking at how different types of wineries could operate in RR zones under clear and consistent criteria. The project will entail changes to zoning rules, new operating standards, and a review of potential environmental effects under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Meeting Discussion Topic: Draft Zoning Ordinance Changes At this meeting, we will focus on drafted Tiered Winery Ordinance changes being proposed. We are looking for participation from community members who are residents in RR zones, business associates, agritourism partners, and agricultural resource organizations. Additionally, we will go over both noise buffers/setbacks for amplified live music and outdoor seating capacity for Boutique Wineries. The goal of this meeting is to obtain feedback on draft changes to the Winery Ordinance that fosters a thriving agricultural economy while maintaining harmony with nearby residents and preserved open spaces. PDS will host this in-person hybrid meeting on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Noon. Brix Wines, an independent, couple-owned San Diego winery, is partnering with FMI Wine Club to host a Chef Pop-Up with The Heights at its flagship tasting room in the North City district in San Marcos. Taking place on Saturday, July 11 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., guests are invited to sip J. Brix's natural wines by the glass or bottle while enjoying chef-driven cuisine and live DJ sets in a relaxed indoor-outdoor setting. The Heights, a women-owned San Diego street food pop-up known for its late-night tacos, will serve a menu of street tacos, crispy quesatacos, quesadillas, nachos and more, while DJs Mikey Avila and Brayisme provide the soundtrack for the evening. In this workshop, students will learn the art of editing their memoir including identifying what and where to cut to streamline the plot. Students will also learn how the revising process works so that they will be able to create a product that will excel in the marketplace. Peer editing will be utilized to assist the student in completing a first rough draft of their memoir. Students will be given an overview of the publishing options available to them including special guests (top professionals in the field) that will offer the most current and compelling information about publishing/self-publishing in today’s memoir marketplace. Class structure: Except for the first class, the first hour will be lecture and the second hour will be read and critique where participants can workshop their material or class assignments. Tone of class: We strive to create a supportive, nurturing environment where participants feel encouraged to share, risk and connect to their most creative self.
