Clinton Davis is an expert in old-time American folk music, and has the authentic roots and musical mastery that allows him to bring it alive, along with the other members of the Clinton Davis Stringband. A fifth-generation Kentuckian, Clinton grew up in rural Carroll County. He is currently based in San Diego. His repertoire spans fiddle and banjo music native to his family home, the exuberant ragtime piano and guitar of early 20th-century New Orleans, and ballad songs and dance music of the Southwest. His prowess across instruments and traditional American styles has gained notice from the standard-bearers of previous generations, and earned him a place amongst a new generation of American folk musicians. Renowned fingerstyle guitarist Stefan Grossman has called him “a master…carrying on the traditional music torch of Mike Seeger.” The Deering Banjo company has called his playing “simply sublime.” No Depression has called his work “a joyous and soulful restoration of American music tradition.” Tim McNalley is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and songwriter from Southern California. While usually seen on the upright and electric bass, he also performs on guitar, keyboards, cello, violin, mandolin, and sitar, a breadth that has allowed him the opportunity to collaborate with artists such as Paul McCartney, Ariana Grande, Adam Melchor, Changuito, Jim Kweskin, and Burt Turetzky. Ryan Finch followed his deep love of music, from his hometown of Bishop, California, up to the Bay Area, and across the country to Boston and back, with plenty of stops along the way. When he eventually decided to pursue the technical side of music production, Ryan moved to San Diego, where he has been engineering and producing artists in the studio. When he is behind a recording console, Ryan also performs on piano, guitar, bass, banjo, and mandolin. He is deeply influenced by varied acoustic music traditions, notably American folk and jazz. From the KPBS weekend arts preview: The Old Globe collaborated with SoulKiss Theater to bring two one-act plays to the stage, written by local hip-hop artists and playwrights Miki Vale and Queen Kandi Cole. Vale's play "And We Danced" is the story of 1940s LGBTQ+ activist Ruth Ellis. Cole's "Game Night" is a story of friendship and differences during a board game night. Queen Kandi Cole’s "GAME NIGHT," directed by Kimberly King, follows a group of friends who gather for a night of games but wind up digging into the complexities of their diverse backgrounds and belief structures post-pandemic during a chaotic and hilarious evening of libations and truth-telling. Shared spaces are the future of our common life in the city. During the modernist era a term public space was used to define such places but the constitution of them were much more based on local economic and anthropocentric criteria, which allowed a strong touristification of public spaces and their transformation into the places of the production of private capital. As the so popular business construction PPP (private public partnership) didn’t deliver to the community realities, needs and/or desires for people inhabiting stressed circumstances of the area. As Marjetica Potrč states “the communities imagine the future city as a network of neighbourhoods and neither group was interested in public space, but they were all interested in shared space, community space,” it is important to follow some of the main paradigms of the changing world to therefore make a new agreement that is not human centred. Decolonizing methodologies can change the perception of ownership into caretaker. The first step is a definition of a new vocabulary based on trust and creating a ritual of transition within structuring new relationships in space. Doc. dr. Boštjan Bugarič is an architect, researcher, curator, critic and editor. Since 2014 he has been an editor at the open source community Architectuul in Berlin. For the University of Primorska in Koper he coordinated the accreditation and established the Faculty of Built Environment (2008-13), where he took a position of the acting dean (2011 – 2013). In 2017 was a research collaborator at Faculty of Architecture Ljubljana. He is a professor at the Visual art and Design department at the Faculty of Pedagogy in Koper. He exhibited at the U3 Triennial of Contemporary Art in Slovenia in MSUM+ Ljubljana (2013). Since 2016 he has been coordinating the Architectuul’s associated partnership at the Future Architecture Platform. Architectuul is a member of the LINA research project.
