We have receipts, broken chargers, plastic bags, VHS tapes, sneakers, screenshots, and the mysterious Tupperware lid with no matching container. "Modern Relics" invites artists to explore the everyday artifacts of contemporary life—subjects we use, love, hoard, worship, discard, or somehow refuse to throw away. Think: of the things that will be discarded, outdated or irrelevant in the future. Juror Vallo Riberto is an American independent art curator, educator and fine artist based in San Diego, California. Best known for his extensive academic career and avant-garde art curations, he served as the Director of the Southwestern College Art Gallery and has curated prominent exhibitions across Southern California. Riberto’s foundational knowledge spans studio arts and extensive art history. His academic pedigree includes training at some of the most prestigious art institutions in the United States. It's döner time at Bosforo! On Monday, October 19 at 6 p.m., the modern Turkish restaurant will host a special döner night featuring freshly carved Turkish döner, handcrafted cocktails and live music. The evening will feature a bar takeover by Sirens and Spirits alongside live performances by @sezeryilmaz and @atomskalmighty. For one night only, the menu will focus exclusively on döner, cocktails and music, with no regular dinner menu available. The event offers a first taste of Bosforo’s new weekly döner offering, set to launch in November. The Escondido Downtown Business Association (EDBA) is proud to announce Gather on Grand – a new downtown Escondido tradition, inspired by the Escondido community, creativity and agricultural heritage. With a heavy focus on music this year, North County residents are invited to stroll Grand Avenue and discover handcrafted goods, listen and experience live music on multiple stages, plus partake in seasonal fall flavors, family activities and unique shopping. This year's festival will take place between Escondido Blvd. and Ivy Street in historic downtown Escondido. Live music stages will be located at Broadway and artists include: 10 a.m. – Virginia James 11 a.m. – Jonny Tarr 12 p.m. – Mohavisoul 1 p.m. – Calamity 2 p.m. – The Gravities 3 p.m. – Zavala Soul 4 p.m. – The Bastards Art in the Garden is a juried art show within Gather on Grand event, bringing many talented Southern California artists to Heritage Garden Park – on the northeast corner of Juniper Street and Grand Avenue – to show and sell their work. Festival goers can shop directly from the artists, hear about their inspiration and learn how their art is created. Guests can shop from hundreds of vendors, including unique hand-crafted gifts, imports, and delicious international cuisine. There are also many family-friendly interactive kids’ crafts, as well as a variety of free hands-on art activities and much more. Gary Henderson Interiors launches its 2026-2027 season in Borrego Springs on Oct. 24 with “Mixed Tempos,” an exhibition featuring six innovative artists. Kevin Goddess, Victoria Johnson, Kippi Leonard, Robert Landry, Wil Gardner and Marcy Gregory will be featured at GHI’s studio 628 through Nov. 30.
