OTCYA presents "Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR." at the historic Sunshine Brooks Theater (217 N. Coast Highway, Oceanside)! This performance is the culmination of our Stage Explorers Summer Camp, featuring our talented young performers. Based on the hit DreamWorks film, this fun-filled musical follows Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria as they escape the Central Park Zoo and embark on a wild adventure in Madagascar. A high-energy celebration of friendship, laughter, and discovery — perfect for the whole family! Please Note: This production showcase is the culmination of a 2 week summer camp that focuses solely on the accomplishments of young artists learning the multiple elements of performance. There will be limited design & technical elements used in the showcase. ArtReach is excited to announce our 2026 Annual Charity Art Auction! Youth and adult artists have been invited to transform recycled vinyl records into bold, one-of-a-kind works of art for this fundraiser that supports creative expression and community impact, while helping make art accessible to young people across San Diego County. This special project brings together creativity, community, and giving. Selected artworks will be featured in an online charity auction and exhibited in person at the 42nd Annual Mission Fed ArtWalk, with proceeds supporting both the participating artists and ArtReach’s free and low-cost visual arts programs for youth and families. The pieces will be available through an online auction starting April 19, 2025, and will be on public display at Mission Fed ArtWalk on April 25t & 26 at Booths 840 & 841 on India Street. While the auction takes place online and is open to anyone nationwide, ArtReach has partnered with ArtWalk since 2019 to showcase the art at their outdoor festivals. These events provide local and visiting attendees the opportunity to view the auction items in person and place bids in person. Upcycling Fun! Thursday, August 13, from 6-8:30 p.m. Give new life to your wardrobe in this creative, beginner-friendly 2.5 hour workshop! Led by local-artist and printmaker Kasey Leung, you’ll learn how to design, carve, and hand-print your own original block, then use it to transform a piece of clothing you already own. Bring a garment like a denim jacket, linen pants, cotton shirt, or canvas tote, and learn how to thoughtfully place your print to create a one-of-a-kind wearable piece. Feel free to come with ideas, inspiration, or printed reference images, keeping in mind that your design will need to fit within a 4×6 inch block. The best fabrics for block printing are natural fibers with smooth, tight weaves, such as cotton or linen. It’s best to avoid stretchy, heavily textured, or fuzzy fabrics like knit or wool. No experience needed and all printing materials are provided. Just bring a few cotton or linen-based items, and we can work together to select the best one to print on! This workshop is all about personal expression, experimentation, and embracing the beauty of handmade imperfections. You’ll leave with a refreshed, uniquely yours piece of clothing and your carved block to keep creating at home. Beginners welcome! Join us for this 3-hour workshop, as you learn to handcraft your own unique kumihimo bracelet. Kumihimo is a traditional Japanese artform and craftwork for making braids and cords. In the past, kumihimo decorations were used as accessories for kimono as well as samurai armor. Literally meaning gathered threads, kumihimo are made by interlacing reels of yarn, commonly silk, with the use of traditional, specialized looms. With the advent of an inexpensive handheld loom, you can make bracelets and necklaces affordably and easily.
