  • Daneen Wilburn is one of San Diego’s most sought-after Gospel and Jazz vocalists. She is the daughter of two Gospel quartet singers and grew up singing gospel with her five siblings: all musicians. This performance will showcase that musical history as she shares the stage with her two sisters, Margie Holmes and Joanna Broussard. She is accompanied by Richard Sellers on drums, Michael Kennedy on bass and Grammy Winner, Kamau Kenyatta on piano. If you missed Daneen’s last appearance at First Sunday Concerts do not make the same mistake again. Last year she had us openly weeping with her jazz and soul ballads. This year she is back with a world class band to enrich our Sunday and explore the roots of Jazz and Soul: a Gospel set, curated especially for us. The energy will be through the roof! This premium concert is made possible by a generous donation from the Betty Scalise Foundation which is dedicated to promoting live music in San Diego. ABOUT MIRACLE BABIES Miracle Babies is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is dedicated to helping perinatal mothers and their families during their time of need by providing transportation, mental health assistance and supportive services. Our tagline is “Together for a better beginning,” reflecting the importance of this family connection in the critical early weeks and months of an infant’s life and its linkage to improved health outcomes. Transportation issues, including the increasing cost of gas, hospital parking fees, or medically unable to drive are significant barriers that many families in San Diego County, Los Angeles, and Orange County must overcome to be with their babies. Miracle Babies newest initiative, My Brain & My Baby, aims to support mothers suffering from perinatal anxiety or depression with early detection and acute medical care. By providing free transportation and mental health assistance to families, Miracle Babies helps alleviate the stressors of everyday life resulting in better health outcomes for the growth and development of baby.
