  • From the organizers: “Choral music is a living breathing art form, and in this concert you have the opportunity to hear music from many living, breathing composers.” – John K. Russell, Music Director. San Diego Master Chorale presents Where All Are Welcome (Nov. 4 and 5, 2023). Embark on a journey of unity with the San Diego Master Chorale as we celebrate diverse cultures and life experiences through choral music. Drawing inspiration from composers like Jennifer Lucy Cook and Jocelyn Hagen, we explore the path of inter-religious harmony and the richness of different traditions. Featured works by California-based composers Saunder Choi, Shawn Kirchner, R. Matthew Brown, and Zanaida Robles augment this rich tapestry of human connection. Join the Chorale for a musical experience where all are welcome and united through the shared voice of music. These concerts are part of the California Festival, A Celebration of New Music. This statewide music initiative showcases the most compelling and forward-looking voices in performances of works written in the past five years. Note: A second concert on Sunday, Nov. 5, is part of the California Festival Family & Community Day, presented by the San Diego Symphony, and features an abbreviated program performed outside at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. November 5, 2023 – Sunday at 3:00 p.m. The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park 222 Marina Park Way, San Diego Related links: San Diego Master Chorale website | Instagram | Facebook California Festival website | Instagram

  • The San Diego Automotive Museum (SDAM) will be hosting its monthly Cars & Coffee community event on Sunday, December 18, from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. This is an exciting way to get outside on Sunday at beautiful Balboa Park and see cars of all makes and models while enjoying coffee and donuts courtesy of Donald Sewell from GEICO. The community is invited to visit the Museum during Cars & Coffee for a discounted admission price ($10 before 10 a.m.) or partake in the completely free event outside with coffee and donuts (while supplies last) for guests to enjoy while browsing the wide array of vehicles. The public is also invited to bring their own cars to display in the parking lot for other spectators to enjoy. Car owners are encouraged to decorate their “sleigh” and Santa will be there to pick his favorite. The Elusive Luxuries: Supercars and the Thrill of the Chase Exhibit is on display until January 8, 2022. These supercars combine technical sophistication, exotic looks, high-top speed, quick acceleration, and a commanding presence, offering drivers unique and exhilarating experiences. Rare, exclusive, and expensive, supercars feature far more power and performance improvements than are necessary for everyday motoring, yet this very impracticality only heightens their appeal. Some featured vehicles include 1966 Bizzarrini P538, a 1982 Lamborghini Countach, a 2012 Lamborghini Aventador, a 2008 Lamborghini Murcielago, and the 1953 Bentley Mark VI Graber Drophead Coupé that won Best of Class at Pebble Beach this year. Future Cars & Coffee events are generally held on the third Sunday of each month. Please check the Museum’s website for the most up-to-date event information. • Join Producers Club members for an exclusive opportunity to see The Outsiders at the La Jolla Playhouse and enjoy a pre-reception prior to the show.

The story that defined a generation is reimagined as a groundbreaking musical. In Tulsa, Oklahoma, 1967, the hardened hearts and aching souls of Ponyboy Curtis, Johnny Cade and their chosen family of ‘outsiders’ are in a fight for survival and a quest for purpose in a world that may never accept them. A story of the bonds that brothers share and the hopes we all hold on to, this gripping new musical reinvigorates the timeless tale of ‘haves and have nots’, of protecting what’s yours and fighting for what could be.
